Meet the Academic Intervention Assistants!
Weezy Elliott (English)
Andrea Carrier (Social Studies)
Ms. Elliott has been the English Intervention
Assistant at WKHS since 2004. She assists students
with the English curriculum, including composition,
literary analysis, and grammar review. Ms. Elliott
prepares students for the Ohio Graduation Test and
provides remedial instruction for students at risk for
failing the OGT after the first attempt. In addition,
she provides support to English as a Second
Language students across the curriculum. Ms. Elliott
also works with the Intervention Assistance Team to
help identify, construct plans for and follow up with
struggling students.
Ms. Elliott earned her BA degree from
Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee and her
Education degree from the University of Arizona.
Mrs. Carrier is the Social Studies
Intervention Assistant. She works individually with
students as a supplement to classroom instruction.
Mrs. Carrier coordinates with the social studies
teachers to provide additional support in explaining
the content, themes, and concepts as well as
preparing students for the Ohio Graduation Test. She
is also a member of the Building Data Team and uses
this information to further student progress.
She received her Bachelor’s degree in
History and Master’s in Education from The Ohio
State University. Mrs. Carrier completed her student
teaching at Phoenix Middle School here in the
Worthington district. Upon graduation she became a
substitute teacher for one semester for several central
Ohio districts before joining the staff here at WKHS.
Charlie Kuntz (Science)
Mr. Kuntz has been the WKHS science
Intervention Assistant for 12 years. He works with
students one-on-one and in small groups in support of
classroom instruction. Mr. Kuntz coordinates his
activities with the classroom science teachers in order
to put in context concepts discussed in class. He
helps students with homework assignments,
worksheet completion, problem solving, and review
of data collected in labs. Students who miss class and
need to make up missed work come to Mr. Kuntz for
help, as well as students who need additional
explanation of key science concepts. He also
provides remedial instruction to prepare students for
taking or retaking the OGT.
Mr. Kuntz has a BS in Geology from Ohio
Wesleyan University, and a MS in Engineering
Geology from the University of Cincinnati. He was a
professional geologist for 28 years with engineering
companies before joining the WKHS staff.
Greg Freisner (Math)
Mr. Freisner is the WKHS math Intervention
Assistant, and helps students with their daily math
assignments. He reviews concepts with them in
algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, and explains
basic math problems for students who need additional
help in completing their homework. He also helps
students prepare for the OGT math test. Mr. Freisner
has been at Kilbourne for 8 years, and has a BS in
computer science/engineering from The Ohio State
University. He worked in technical sales and
engineering support for equipment manufacturing
companies for over 20 years, and taught math at a
private school before joining WKHS.
All Academic Intervention Assistants work with students on their organization skills,
study techniques, and assignment punctuality. We look forward to meeting and working
