What is the MOB? The Making Oklahoma City Beautiful (MOB) young professionals organization is a program of OKC Beautiful. Members are young adults between the ages of 22 and 35 representing a broad range of professional backgrounds including private, nonprofit and government sectors. The MOB offers an annual membership rate of $50 or participants can pay to attend per meeting. Participation offers members a number of activities allowing them to connect, serve and learn within Oklahoma City. Members, in turn, help OKC Beautiful improve the public image and appearance of the city. PROGRAM GOALS: Connect. Connecting young professionals to a larger network of peers and established community members. Serve. Serving the community through volunteer projects in the Oklahoma City metro area. Learn. Learning valuable leadership skills while expanding knowledge of new, exciting things happening in OKC. PROGRAM ACTIVITIES: Networking. MOB members will be invited to attend networking events including workshops and happy hours. Impact. Members will become active participants in the Adopt-A-Park program by selecting a park for the membership to maintain monthly. The MOB will also be responsible for planning and executing at least one service project each year that relates back to OKC Beautiful’s core values. Projects can include community gardening, litter and graffiti removal, or other improvements to public spaces. Education. Through a series of lectures and site visits, members will gain valuable skills for their personal and professional growth. Community leaders and local businesses will assist with an interactive mix of activities designed to expose young professionals to new concepts and ideas. Content will range in topics from leadership to sustainability. MOB leadership is comprised of a Leadership Board. Each year, OKC Beautiful will select new Board Members to join the Leadership Team for 1 or 2 year terms (Jan.-Dec.). We are looking for the right people with a willingness to work and a passion for Oklahoma City to join the MOB Leadership Board. Board Members are the decision makers and ambassadors of the organization. They help follow through on projects, carry out the organization’s mission and provide value to our members. If you want to be a part of the decision making of the organization and help the MOB continue to make a positive impact in OKC, then this is the position for you. Keep in mind – we are a working Leadership Board and a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization.
