British Experience 3 ch
Introduces British history of the period 1480 to the present using a biographical approach.
From the high and mighty to the low and powerless, the lives of several individuals of
various social ranks will be examined. The successes and limitations of biography as a
means of historical understanding will be explored.
HIST1301
Canadian Historical Issues 3 ch
This course is designed to introduce students to the methodology and techniques of
historical study. It will focus on the historical background to current issues in Canadian
society, culture and politics.
HIST1401
The American Experience 3 ch
HIST 1401 is an introductory course focusing on American Social History. Through
lecture, discussion and written assignments, students will examine questions about how
men and women make history, as well as questions about how history is shaped by those
writing it. This course will offer students an opportunity to do historical research,
improve communication skills, and develop a critical scholarly approach.
