Application Information for Prospective International
Students, 2015 (Non-Degree Programs)
1 、Eligibility
1) Applicants must be Non-Chinese citizens in good health, at the age of 18 or
above, and possess a valid and private passport.
Note: Residents of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who have
emigrated to a foreign country and who are now applying to study in China as
international students must have held a valid foreign passport for at least four years,
and must have actually resided in a foreign country for at least two years in the past
four years. (Nine months of residence in a foreign country may count as a full year.
The dates of the entry and exit stamps in the passport will be followed in the
determination of actual foreign residence.) Applicants mentioned above should submit
additional documents as follows: (1) Certificate of naturalization; (2) Proof of
cancellation of the original residence; (3) A photocopy of exit and entry signature
pages of the passport in recent four years (original copy for future examination); (4)
Proof of study or work experience at abroad in recent two years.
2) Educational Background
Applicants for general visiting scholar programs must be current student or have
bachelor's degree;
Applicants for advanced visiting scholar programs must be current student or have
master's degree or doctoral degree.

Remarks
1、 Applicants must submit the scanned copy of the documents online; Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be
attached with certified translations in Chinese or English.
2、 Application will not be processed unless they’re complete and additional documents may be required if necessary.
3、 Language Proficiency Requirement:Applicants who have obtained their highest degree with Chinese as the medium of instruction are
exempted from providing language proficiency certification, but proof indicating the language medium is required.
4、 All applicants must guarantee that all the documents are complete, true and correct.

2. Language Requirement:
a) ·Applicants with English as native language are exempted from English language certificate.
b) ·Applicants from non-English speaking countries must provide IELTS (6.0 or above), new TOEFL (80 points or above)
or other comparable certification of English proficiency.。
c) ·Applicants who have obtained their highest degree with English as the medium of instruction are exempted from
providing language proficiency certification, but proof indicating the language medium is required.
Please also pay attention to other instructions mentioned in “Remarks” in Form 1.
5、Registration Period
Registration will be specified in the admission notice. Successful applicants are required to register in SDU during the specified period, and
early registration will not be handled.
6、 Fees
1) Registration Fee: 400 RMB/year
(Note: Successful applicants must pay it upon registration.)
2) Tuition Fee (Tuition fees vary according to the study duration, please refer to the Form 3 for detailed information)

2) Medical Insurance Premium: 800 RMB/year
(Note: According to regulation of Ministry of Education, all international students must be covered by medical insurance plan throughout their
entire planned period of study. Students are required to purchase the Comprehensive Insurance Plan of Foreign Students on the day of
registration by submitting copies of passport. Students who don’t have valid medical insurance will not be allowed to register.)
7、 Visa
Students who are admitted must apply for study type of visa at the Chinese Embassy/Consulate in home country with the Admission Notice and
JW201/202 form. International students who will study in China for less than 6 months should apply for “X2” type of visa. Students who will
study in China for over 6 months are required to obtain ‘X1’ type of Visa, which will only be valid for 30 days after your arrival in China.
Students must come to the International Students Affairs Office to apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days in order to obtain a legal stay in
China.
