The project is working with the slum community from Tesh-Lal-Verma Nagar, Lalu Nagar, and Ashiyana More near Jagdeo path area, Rajeev Nagar and Ara Garden. The community member of the Tesh-Lal-Verma Nagar work at construction sites as daily wages workers.
These members belong to schedule caste (Bind) community. The other community members work as cook, carpenter, Thella or Rickshaw puller, Marble mistry etc. They are illiterate and backward and have migrated from rural areas in search of better livelihood.
Therefore, this project intends to meet the learning aspiration of the children. The project has brought positive impact on children who are coming to the center from the beginning.
The course curriculum designed as per the learning standard of children, learning to read and communicate in English and Hindi dealing and juggling with numbers +, -, × and ÷ these kids are users of computer tablets and receive knowledge about the latest in information technology. The class is divided into two sessions. Each group has two hours classes every day. They are taught for 6 days in a week. A number of activities are organized from time to time and children participate in all activities with great enthusiasm. Republic day celebration was an open platform for exhibiting their talent through One act play, Dance, Music, P.E.T and Quiz.

We have started a new activity with the children known as “Open House”.
Open House meetings have been practiced earlier by institutions working in the space of alternative education. One of the most famous examples of this is the Summer hill School in
England. Our vision for the center involves creation of an open space - where learners feel a high sense of ownership and do not feel afraid in airing their opinion. Other aims of the center which is helping it in becoming an open space.
Group Learning
Peer to peer Learning
Non hierarchical classroom
Learner teacher reversible role
All children including vocational training students participated in this exercise.

Through the open house meeting children raised the issue of dance practice -as many of them are interested in it. Since we do not have a professional dance teacher associated with us, few children who are good at dance volunteered to teach dance to others- dance classes are being held on Sundays (we work six days a week from Tuesday to Monday)
The children learn how to be responsible and also how to communicate their view point to a larger audience. They also get insights into the meaning of democracy and equity.
The center is meant to be a space where children learn skills which would help them in navigating the world - by providing an open forum; we are able to take direct feedback on our work from the children - who in most cases are recipients of information. The exercise has brought together everyone as a community which is very conducive for learning.
Many visitors and volunteers came during this quarter to the centre.
Another new activity was introduction of Online classes for English & Maths taken by volunteers.
Mr. Pinaki Ranjan from “Smile Foundation” visited the centre. He emphasized on the importance of proper nutrition and the value of good health and proper hygiene.
Mr. Paul Jarvis, Dr. Ranjana and their daughter came from Manchester and they interacted with the children. They involved them in activity based on geography(use of
Map & Globe).
Kamini Prakash from “Pravah, Delhi”, Rama Rao and Ramneek Banga from
“Commutiny Youth Collective, Delhi”, Shariq Ahmad Khan from “Safe Safar, Lucknow”,
Gitanjali Babbar from “Katkatha, Delhi”, and Bappaditya Mukherji from “Prantakatha,
Calcutta” visited our centre and interacted with the children.
