Memo To: Ammann College Leadership Team. From: Brian C. Steinberg (Ammann College RHD). CC: Matty Punnett (Mendelsohn Quad Director). Date: 09/17/00. Re: Welcome. At this time, I want to be the first to welcome you back to SUNY-Stony Brook. I hope you all had a great summer and are ready for an exciting year, as you will be the first Ammann College Staff of the new millennium. Get ready to start in style! Please review the attached "Ammann College In-Hall Schedule" as well as the "Camp Stony Brook RA Training 2000 Schedule." This past summer I was the Hendrix College Summer RHD (Jason Bright was on my staff!) This past summer I also started my own business (with David Scarzella, Keller RHD) called http://www.residentassistant.com/reslifepro as well as professionally reviewing and critiquing Residence Life web sites and books. Here is some personal information about me. I grew up in Brooklyn, New York, graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School (the same high school as Stephan Marbury, Arthur Miller, Neil Diamond, Louis Gossett Jr., Lee Mazzilli, and Christina Soru (Ammann A2 RA) in 1991, then went on to graduate from Central Michigan University (same school that Dan Majerle of the now Miami Heat and Dick Enberg of NBC Sports) with a BS Degree in Earth Science and Geology in 1995. I then went on to graduate school at The University of Northern Iowa (same school where Kurt Warner, St. Louis Rams Superbowl 2000 MVP attended) where I received a MA Degree in Postsecondary Education: Student Affairs in 1999. Currently, I am finishing up my second MA in Geography from the University of Northern Iowa. I met my wife Sara in Iowa almost five years ago, and we were married in August of 1998 (You will meet Sara at the first Ammann College RA Social). I became the Ammann College RHD last April after spending a challenging nine months working as the Assistant Director of Residence Life for Programs at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. I plan to start a Ph.D. in either Higher Education or Educational Administration within the next few years. My hobbies include cooking, traveling, biking, hiking, computers (web page development / web surfing), rock collecting, diversity support and advocacy, fighting for human rights for all, and studying soil development in sand dunes. You can find out more information about me from my personal web page at: http://www.geocities.com/brian.steinberg In the future, I hope to someday be a Vice President for Student Affairs or Diversity Affairs at a large university in either New Jersey or New England or become the Director of FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) / National Hurricane Center. I look forward to getting to know all of you! Brian C.
