2209257 – SAP Replication Server 15.7.1 SP300
Release Notes
SAP Replication Server 15.7.1 SP300 has been
released on Sep. 3, 2015, with many new
features in replication support for SAP HANA
database, ID Server availability, performance
improvements, error handling and diagnostic
information dumping, usability enhancements,
enhancements in Heterogeneous Replication
and Data Assurance(DA) direct reconciliation:





Enhanced to support clustered and
pooled tables replication for SAP
Business Suite Kernel 740 and 741
Backup ID server is introduced to
improve overall replication availability,
allowing users to designate a regular
replication server as backup ID server
and promote it to primary ID server
with a new command “admin idserver”.
Backup and Primary ID servers always
are synchronized for the server and
database registrations.
Replication Server can dispatch a large
transaction in DIST and DSI before it
receives the commit command if new
connection parameters ”parallel_dist”
and “parallel_dsi” are set to 'on'. This
helps reduce replication latency.
“sysadmin log_first_tran” is changed
by default to dump the plain SQL
commands of the failed transaction to




log files if connection option
“dsi_log_cmds” is enabled. When DSI is
down, the server prints an explicit
message in the log to inform users to
execute “admin log_first_tran” to write
the failed transaction into the log and
they can analyze them and provide a
fix, then resume connection.
The new command “admin
dump_error” allows users to retrieve
diagnosable error information for an
error that happened recently. In
addition to giving the error number and
regular error text, the command logs
OQID and TranID of the data, object
owner and name, and even the SQL
command to which the error is related.
"assign action" command is enhanced
with a new option "severity" so error
actions can be assigned to severity level
of database errors.
The new "sysadmin schema_check"
command can compare the schemas
among table replication definition,
primary table, and replicate table and
displays if their column datatypes and
lengths are compatible. It works for ASE
replication as well as for heterogeneous
replication.
When replication is blocked by an open
transaction either because of a very
long running transaction or due to
missing a commit command, a new
“sysadmin
dump_open_tran’”command can be
used to dump the open transaction


from a stable queue into a file for deep
investigation.
“OR” and “IN VALUE LIST” sub clause in
where clause of table subscription
operation is now supported.
Data Assurance (DA) is enhanced to
make direct reconcile without saving
row values, detailed test or XML report
to disk. This faster reconciliation
compares and reconciles rows in a
single step all in memory. It also
improved LOB support to avoid JVM
OutOfMemory errors. New option
"properties" of "show system"
command displays the setting details of
the system. This makes debugging
remote DA agents and servers easier.
EBF/Support Package, i.e., this EBF/Support
Package can be installed independently
regardless of whether previous releases exist or
not.
1953157 - SAP Replication Server, replication
agent for IBM DB2 for z/OS 15.0 SP06 Release
Note
SP06 is a "full product" release. The libraries
uploaded contain the entire product and do not
need to be concatenated with earlier SAP
Replication Server, replication agent libraries.
SP06 has special SAP HANA Support which does
some conversions, date, time, timestamp, and
so on, at the source. Please read Note 1953157
for release details.
2186112 – SAP Replication Server 15.7.1 SP208
Release Notes
SRS 15.7.1 SP208 has been released available on
June 30, 2015 for users to download on SAP
support portal. This patch is a full installation
package and there is no Replication Server
version requirement prior to applying this EBF.
It includes new bug fixes since SP207. For the
installation instructions and the bug fix list,
please read Note 2186112 for details.
2186677 – SAP Replication Agent 15.7.1 SP208
Release Notes
We recommend that you install this EBF as soon
as possible. This EBF is for the Replication Agent
component within the Replication Server
Options 15.7.1, Replication Server
Heterogeneous Edition 15.7.1, Replication
Server Real-Time Edition 15.7.1, Replication
Server Change Data Capture 15.7, and
Replication Server SAP HANA Edition 15.7
products.
Replication Agent 15.7.1 SP208 is a full
installation package and there is no Replication
Agent version requirement prior to applying this

Fixes and Workarounds
user connection. The cause is that if the length
of the hostname is too long (>=30 characters),
the function call gethostname() will fail. This has
been filed under CR 783433. For workaround
and solution, please read KBA 2164529.
2142817 - SAP Rep Server - Rep Server crash
with signal 11 in function _sqt_check_bulk
During normal replication process, the
Replication Server could crash with the stack
trace in the errorlog - _sqt_check_bulk ,
_sqt_add_to_cache , sqt_LoadCache (),
dsi__SchedulerBody,...... This problem is due to
CR 617406 which is corrected in Rep Server 15.6
ESD#1, Rep Server 15.7, and higher.
Workaround is to turn off dsi_bulk_copy.
2168658 - Repserver startup is hanging
Replication Server start-up is not progressing.
One of common causes of replication server
hanging is RSSD transaction log is full. This
article shows how to handle it and avoid it from
happening in the future.
1906033 - RS upgrade fails on ASE error 208:
"rs_objects1500 not found" - SAP Replication
Server
One of the steps to prepare for upgrade is to
use rs_helpsub and rs_helpdbsub to check that
all subscriptions are valid. The upgrade fails if
there are subscriptions that are not in a valid
state before upgrading. If this step was skipped
and the upgrade failed with the error, you
manually deleted the pending subscriptions
from RSSD databases and rerun the upgrade. CR
745948 is filed to stop upgrading on error
17001. The bug is not corrected yet.
2012597 - Create route from RS15.7 (or higher)
to RS15.5 (or RS15.6GA) will fail
CR 742188 was filed for this problem but closed
with fixes in 15.6 ESD# 1. The resolution is to
upgrade 15.5 to 15.6 ESD# 1 or higher.
Creating route from RS157 to RS155 fails with
ERROR #28098. This is CR 742188 and CR
655893. The problem is in the lower versions of
replication servers. The solution is to upgrade
the target replication server to RS156 ESD#1 or
later version.
2164529 - ASE sp_who displays ‘unknown' host
name on all RS users
ASE sp_who displays the hostname as
'unknown' for the maintuser and RSSD_prim

"TIMESTAMP" are not showing proper time in
HANA
After you setup replication from MS SQL server
or other none-Oracle to HANA database, you
may encounter this issue while setting up the
replication from Oracle to the same HANA
replicate database.
1988032 - Keeping locater current during times
of low replication activity
2123183 - The schemamap of a database
connection doesn't take effect for table
subscription - Sap Replication Server
This applies to Replication Agent Oracle,
Replication Agent DB2 LUW and Replication
Agent MS SQL. The primary database has high
volume redo log generation and the ratio of the
number of replicated tables and the total
number of tables is very low. ra_locator doesn't
change often. The Rep Agent takes a while at
restart to resume replication. The article
provides a solution to keep the locater current
and make the Rep Agent recover faster at
restart.
Since Replication Server 15.7.1 SP200, mapping
primary schema or owner to replicate schema
or owner is supported at the connection level.
This could be an easy solution for different
schemas or owners between primary and
replicate databases. But this feature is not
effective for table subscriptions.

and you want to skip it, but you don't want the
server to log it into the RSSD and fill up the
RSSD database space. How can you skip a
transaction without filling the RSSD?
RA for UDB generates a table replication
definition with dynamic sql option by default.
This causes DSI down for the replicate database
which doesn’t support dynamic sql in
replication. There is a workaround for this
problem in this article.

ERSSD (Embedded RSSD) file size is too big, for
example 'ls <erssd_db_file_name>' displays the
db file hundreds or thousands of MB in size. It
doesn't shrink itself.

were skipped into ERSSD and exceptions were
deleted but the ERSSD db file size doesn't
reduce. How can you defragment the ERSSD
