Co-scholastic
1. Informatics Competition- Students of G.D.Salwan took part in Zenith3, a
series of competition based on informatics. The students participated in Code++
and gameonics.
2. Mother & daughter health & hygiene program -GD Salwan Public School,
Rajinder Nagar conducted the workshop on the topic Mother & daughter health &
hygiene program for classes VI, VII & VIII on 3 August 2012. It was organized
by Proctor and Gamble group especially for girls and their mothers were also
invited to attend the same.
3. Biodiversity on Edge – 2012’: A workshop was organised by the Department of
Environment, Government of Delhi in association with the Indian Environment
Society on 8th August 2012 at Delhi Secretariat. It was attended by a teacher and
four students of G D Salwan Public School. The topic for the youth forum was
“Biodiversity on Edge-2012”.
4. A workshop on Eliminating Corporal Punishment was attended by Ms.
Bhavna Mahendru on 8th August’12 at Alliance Française. The workshop was
organised by Centre for Career Development.
5. Janmastami Function-20 students of G.D.S.P.S. along with two teachers went to
attend the Janmastami Function at Bahai Auditorium (Lotus Temple).
6. A Tree Plantation Drive
G.D.Salwan Public School, Rajinder Nagar had
organized (Vanmahotsav) A Tree Plantation Drive on 11th August 2012 at
Rajputana Rifles, Ridge Road along with teachers, students and parents. It was
organized to facilitate environmental awareness among the students as well as the
parents. Everyone participated with great enthusiasm and fervor in planting trees
7. A CCE Workshop was organized by Ahlcon International School Mayur Vihar,
Phase-1, Delhi. It was conducted by Australian Council for Education and
Research (ACER) on the topic of School based Assessment.
8. Inter School Quiz competition –Our students took part in ‘Quizophoria’ which
was organized by St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Rajnivas Marg on 16th
August. There were two events – one was the main quiz and the other was Criss
Cross (a Crossword Puzzle) for students from 9th to 12th.
9. Workshop on e-waste -G.D.Salwan organized a workshop on e-waste. It was
conducted on 17th August by an NGO, i-dream which is working with Nokia
group . He also discussed the case study of Seelampur, East Delhi which is
identified as India’s largest illegal electronics dismantling, recycling and selling
market. Above all, he emphasized on “Responsible Recycling” in order to
maintain the Green of our Earth.
10. Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute Environment Competition: Students of
G.D.Salwan Public School participated in a number of Environment competitions
organized by eco-club “Ecomania” of Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute, Subroto
Park, New Delhi on 22nd August’12. The focal theme was ‘Biodiversity
Conservation’.

11. Zonal Table Tennis Tournament: Ishaan Kapoor, Atul Khandelwal,Kunal Atal
and Meet Hirani of twelfth class of G.D. Salwan Public School participated in
‘Zonal Table Tennis Tournament’ organized by Manavsthali School R-Block in
which 25 schools from Delhi and NCR participated. Our team stood third.
12. Report Writing session-Yash Jain of class VIB and Navya Babbar of VB
attended a session on Report Writing at the Times of India office , New Delhi
13. A workshop on the effectiveness of Indian Virasat (Heritage) in School and
colleges was conducted by Spic Macay at Modern School, Barakhamba Road
which was attended by Ms.Seema Goyal
14. The international Day for the Preservation of Ozone Layer is observed on
16th September in each year to focus global attention and action on the vital
environment issue. This year also our students participated in various competition
organized by ozone cell (India Habitat Centre)
15. Psychology business festival-The students of class XI and XII participated in
LAISSEZ FAIRE 2012- PSYCHOLOGY BUSINESS FESTIVAL at Valley
School, New Delhi.

Teachers’ Training Program by Centre for Environment
Education(CEE): One day Teacher Training Program was organized on
1st Sept’12 by Centre for Environment Education (CEE) under Paryavaran Mitra
Program.
The complete workshop was an eye-opener .It truely helped the teachers to not
only deeply imbibe the true impact of Climate Change and importance of
biodiversity conservation but also to sensitize the students and guide them for its
cause at the basic level.

Kingdom of Dreams A Trip Of A Lifetime!!:The GD Salwan Family had a day
out at the Kingdom of Dreams on 5th September 2012.
Around seventy staff members along with the Principal , Mrs Vijay Laxmi Singh
visited the place. It was an ultimate entertainment and leisure destination,
sprawling across acres of land. Everyone was surprised by the grand entrance and
beautiful ambiance created with lights and mirrors effect..”

WWF Quiz ;Ambika of class VII and Yusuf of class VIII who cleared the first
round of WWF Quiz participated in the second round which was held on 7th
September,2012.

Report On ITIHAAS: Sep 14, 2012 Over 210 eminent educators and enthusiastic students came together at the third
ITIHAAS - Leaders in Heritage Education Summit 2012 – Knowledge of
Yesterday & Curriculum of Tomorrow, held in New Delhi. ITIHAAS is an
NGO working in the field of heritage and education in collaboration with the
Ministry of culture, Govt. of India.

All India RBI Inter- school Quiz :Jasdeep Singh and Rachit Thukral of class XII
participated in All India RBI Inter- school Quiz at Sarvapalli RadhaKrishnan
School on 17th September, 2012. To promote financial literacy and create
awareness about the financial system the RBI provided a national platform for
students through this All India Level Inter- School Quiz Competition. Out of 100
schools of Delhi only 6 schools qualified and our students stood amongst the top

T.T. Competition by CBSE - Divyanshu, Varun Gupta, Shubham Madan,
Pranav Bareja Of VII- participated in T.T. Competition by CBSE at Crescent
Public School
Visit to National Crafts Museum : As an extension activity of monument
conservation adopted by the school where in Students of class Iv have taken the
theme based on forest dwellers. The Students were taken to craft Museum, Pragati
Maidan on 21st September 2012 to get an insight to tribal culture and lifestyle
and to gather the first hand information from the forest dwellers.
8. Workshop ETMA at IIC was attended by Ms. Alka Bhatia and Ms. Shweta
Chawla and Ms. Priyanka Aggarwal on 28th September,2012 and Ms. Alka
Bhatia and Ms. Shweta Chawla and Ms. Yojna Bablani 29th September,2012

1. Visit to National Archives of India on Gandhi Jayanti By Ms. Seema Goyal
and Ms. Tarana Sehgal with 15 students of class VII & IX on 2/10/12
2. Workshop Organized By Greenpeace: A workshop on Environmental
Awareness was organized by Greenpeace India for the students of classes
VIIth and VIIIth on 3.10.2012. The purpose of the workshop was to educate the
students regarding Global Warming and its consequences. Greenpeace-an NGO is
focusing on major environment related issues. They believe it is very important to
sensitize children in schools.
3. Delhi State Volley ball Championship -Our school team took part in Delhi State
Volley ball Championship matches.
4. Swabhiman Sports Festival held at DDA sports complex Rohini attended By our
School Gymnastics team.
5. Workshop on Education Solutions- Madhuri and Pragya attended workshop on
EDU SOL where issues like –

Young film personalities for social change on innovative lines and latest

CBSE girls athletic meet :Our School attended Closing ceremony of CBSE girls
athletic meet at Salwan School Tronica city.
7. Global Science Festival: our school participated in a Global Science festival
which was organized by the American Embassy at Vishva Yuwak Kendra, New
Delhi. The program was scheduled for 3 days ie 29th to 31st Oct 2012 and it had
an inspiring theme – Don’t just read about Science – Do Science!!

1. Indus Quality Foundation POWER POINT presentation contest: IQF Power
point presentation at Ahlcon International School. This was an annual Indus
Quality Foundation POWER POINT presentation contest held on 2/11/12 at the
aforementioned school organized by Rama Krishna Mission. Our students again
participated putting forth their best efforts.
2. Inter-zonal volley ball match held on 5/11/12 and 6/11/12 at Preet Vihar was
played by Madhav Gautam and Aman Madan of our school
3. Bourvita Quiz: Monica Sandill took 6 students to Bourvita Quiz at Sathya Sai
International Centre on 8/11/12, Lodhi Road. This contest was held at the
aforementioned venue for schools of Northern region. Three two member teams
participated from standards VII and VIII respectively. They competed against
several of the top schools of Delhi and came close to qualifying for the semi final
round. The students enthusiastically participated in the audience round of the
contest.
4. Inter-zonal Athletics meet:Our students took part in Inter-zonal Athletics meet
held on 21/11/12 & 22/11/12 at Chhatrasal Stadium
5. Visit to Railway Museum : keeping in mind the topic of month, children were
taken to railway museum on 21/11/12 where joy ride in toy train was a highlight.
6. Essay writing competition: 3 students participated in Essay writing competition
at INTACH.
7. Debate competition: Students Participated in debate competition held at Adarsh
Public School Vikas puri with Ms Sonali Grover. The topic of debate was Smart
Worker and not character is the need of 21st century“.our students participated
enthusiastically with full vigor and fervor.
8. Inter-zonal volley ball match: Our Volleyball team participated in Inter-zonal
volley ball match at Pitampura
9. 10th VC’s DDA CUP football tournament 2012 u-17:Our school football team
took part in 10th VC’s DDA CUP football tournament 2012 u-17 held at SIRI
FORT.
10. Aravalli Biodiversity Park..
Students of Class VI visited Aravalli Biodiversity Park, Vasant Vihar on
27th november’12 to study the concept of biodiversity . The park aims at the
conservation and preservation of ecosystems of the two major landforms of Delhi,
the river Yamuna and the Aravalli hills. Students got the facts and figures about
the biodiversity park through their resource person . They could get glimpse of
various birds unavailable in their locality, learnt about various medicinal plants
and rearing of various species of the plants. They appreciated the biodiversity
conserved there .

1. Jashn e – Darohar Heritage Mela was organized on 1st December, 2012 Cultural heritage of any community is unique and irreplaceable, which places the
great responsibility of its safeguard and preservation on the current generation.
We must protect our heritage with strong, effective and a passionate approach.
2. Biography release of our founder father. School students along with Staff
attended the Launch of ” The Invincible Soul” -The Biography of Pt. Girdhari
Lal Salwan-Founder Salwan Schools.
3. Christmas celebration- Christmas was celebrated with full joy and enthusiasm
on 24/12/12 where children sang Carols and performance dances.Life of Jesus
Christ was also enacted by the students. A street play ‘Jago Grahak Jago’ was
done on the same day under Heritage education programme.
