Activity context

These digital resources are designed for languages teachers to use with Interactive Whiteboards. This activity has been designed to consolidate the language in the topic area of family and pets.

Family

Students and teachers use the image as a stimulus to ask questions and make sentences relating to family.

For this activity students need to have learnt the vocabulary for family members.

Students drag the family words below the family tree to their correct spaces.

Family

Students read the English and Indonesian vocabulary then drag the appropriate Indonesian word into the position to the left of its

English equivalent. Teachers can time the students completing this activity.

Family members

Students match the appropriate word to the appropriate image by dragging the word into the space nearest to the correct image.

Family members - male and female

To consolidate vocabulary related to family members, male and female.

Students drag and drop the words at the bottom into their appropriate columns relating to male or female. Click on 'check' to correct.

Family members - male and female

To consolidate vocabulary related to family members, male and female.

Students drag and drop the words at the bottom into their appropriate vortex relating to male or female. If correct the word will be sucked into the vortex; if incorrect it will be spat out.

For this activity students need to have learnt the vocabulary for family members and how to identify male and female words.

The Notebook file can be edited to include a number of vocabulary items.

Family

Students click on 'start' to begin the timer. They then rearrange the balls with jumbled letters to reveal an Indonesian word associated with family members. If they are having difficulty they may hit 'clue' to reveal a picture clue.

For this activity students need to have learnt the vocabulary for family members.

Family members

Students click on a tile to reveal a word. They then click on another tile to see if they find the matching word. As students find a match the two matching tiles disappear. This could be completed using a timer.

To consolidate vocabulary and structures related to family, names, age and where one lives.

Students ask questions and write responses on the survey sheet about family.

Pets and animals

Students or teacher click on an image tile to reveal the Indonesian word for the animal. This could be used as a vocabulary drilling activity. Students could race to uncover all the tiles naming them correctly using a timer.

Describing pets - making sentences

To consolidate vocabulary related to describing pets.

Students click on the spinning wheel and the die causing a random word and picture to be selected. Using these as prompts students create sentences orally or in written form.

For this activity students need to have learnt the structures and vocabulary for describing animals.
