Responsibilities
Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services requires a Psychologist to participate in the Early Intensive Behavioural
Intervention Program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Intensive Behavioural Intervention Program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The successful candidate will function as part of a multidisciplinary team under the administrative and clinical direction of the Coordinator for Autism Services. The EIBI program provides intervention to preschoolers with ASD ideally in naturalistic settings to achieve greater generalization of skills. The EIBI model is developed from evidence based practices, which encompass both the principals of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and Pivotal
Response Treatment (PRT; Koegel & Koegal, 2006)).
Duties will include the delivery of the (EIBI) in home and preschool settings. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team the Clinical Interventionist takes primary responsibility for overseeing the development, implementation, and coordination of
EIBI clinical treatment programs. This includes appropriate recording keeping, documentation and regular consultations with supervisory staff.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Psychology and registered or eligible to be registered with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in
Psychology.
Minimum of five years clinical experience with children with behavioral and neurodevelopmental disorders, in particular autism spectrum disorders
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in intervention for young children with ASD
Demonstrated expertise with the DSM-IV diagnostic system, case management, principles of behavioral management as well as psychological testing
Demonstrated ability to formulate and implement treatment plans to promote positive adaptive behaviors, independence and skills development for preschoolers with ASD
Previous experience providing supervision
Demonstrated leadership skills working within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Demonstrated communication (verbal and written) skills.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
Good attendance and work record.
Travel is required
