Welcome to the Autumn Edition of the Careers & Employability
Service Newsletter for 2nd Year students!
For you the focus this term and throughout this academic year is
to start looking for and securing a Placement for your third year.
With this in mind therefore, we have provided a list below of
where you can start looking for a Placement and how you can
prepare for the application process, so that you can secure the
best possible placement!
In addition we highlight other opportunities to help boost your
skills & CV which you may want to consider this term.

There are many ways that you can find a Placement,
whether you decide to find it yourself through your own
network of contacts, or utilise the support offered by the
university.
The best starting point is the BU system MyCareerHub.
Available 24/7, opportunities are being added to the
system regularly, so do keep your eye on new
opportunities that arise.
Don't forget also to visit your Placement Office within
your faculty who can assist you. Details of your offfice

For further help with where else to look for Placement
Opportunities, the Careers & Employability Service has

This year the Careers &
Employability Service is
holding an annual
Graduate & Placements
Fair on campus over two
days.
Once you have found a potential placement opportunity,
ensuring you secure it is the next challenge! To help
with this, the Careers & Employability Service has
compiled a range of resources featuring help and
advice on the application process.
From writing a good CV, to preparing for recruitment
tests and assessment centres, access the resources via

The Careers & Employability Service has recently
purchased 'The Abintegro Interview Simulator Package'
which is designed to help you build up your confidence
and competence in being able to answer questions
thrown at you in an interview.

Leavers in Higher
Education Survey results
have been released and
show that BU Graduate
Employment has risen to
93.3%, up from 91.6% the
previous year.
