SHOW RULES
1. The decision of the judges is final.
2. The Show Directors accept no liability for accidents to spectators, competitors, animals or
their property in connection with or arising from this show. Admission is granted and
entries accepted only on recognition of this condition. The NWID & Hunter Show accepts
no responsibility for any injury arising from any failure to comply with the Show Rules.
3. The Show Directors reserve the right to rearrange times, refuse entries or split/amalgamate
or cancel any class. They also reserve the sole right to interpret regulations and conditions,
and to finally settle and determine all or any matter, question or difference arising from
Show rules.
4. HARD HATS & FOOTWEAR
- Riders it is your sole responsibility to ensure that whilst mounted, a correctly fitted and
secured riding hat or skull cap to the current approved BSI and European standards is worn
- appropriate footwear must always be worn when mounted.
- Handlers & Grooms are advised to wear a properly secured hard hat or skull cap to
current approved BSI and European standard while leading or working with any horse
in and out of the rings.
5. All riders are advised that jewellery should not be worn whilst on horseback.
6. For safety reasons, horses are not allowed in spectator areas.
7. All ridden exhibits must be 4 years or over.
8. TACK
- Ridden classes 1-7 any bit and bridle allowed, but no martingale or boots.
- Ridden classes 19 and 20 any bit, bridle and martingale allowed, boots for jumping phase
only.
- No tack that conceals an animal’s conformation or identifies an animal or owner will be
allowed.
9. It is the responsibility of all horse owners to ensure that their animals are fully vaccinated
against equine flu.
10. DOGS must be kept on a lead at all times.
No dogs allowed on the main showground, only allowed in the parking areas.
11. Please respect the owners of Church Farm showground by refraining from hanging haynets
outside your vehicles, and by removing all droppings left by your animals outside your
vehicles.

Important Class Entry Criteria and Qualifier Details
* Class numbers 5, 6, 7 and 8 – 18 are affiliated to the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) and
only horses registered with or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) and in the correct ownership are
eligible for entry. All breeding and in hand exhibits must be:



already Graded* on the Irish Draught Breed Register
or eligible for Class 1 on the Irish Draught Breed Register
or registered on the Grade 1 or Grade 2 Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers
Registration numbers must be stated on the entry form and entries will be sent to the IDHS (GB)
prior to the show to confirm eligibility.
NOTE: All competing STALLIONS must be inspected or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) and
classified as RID (GB), ID Class 1 or ID Class 2
OR Grade 1 or Grade 2 Irish Draught Sport Horse
AND must display a red, white and blue ribbon in their tails.

All ridden horses must be 152cm (15hh) or over.

In the interest of safety, all yearling, 2 and 3 year old COLTS must be bitted and shown by an
experienced handler of 18 years of age or over.

In the interest of safety, all riders of STALLIONS must be 18 years of age or over.
*A GRADED mare or filly is one which has been inspected or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) and
passed into one of the following categories: ID Class 1, ID Class 2, RID, AID or the
Supplementary Grade Up Register.
* Hornby Premium Inspections: These must be booked in advance of the show day.

1. Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) £2000 Challenge Qualifiers(Classes 1 & 2)
The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from Classes 1 & 2 that is registered or eligible
for registration on the Irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers, i.e. with a minimum
of 25% proven Irish Draught breeding, will qualify for the Final of the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB)
£2,000 Challenge. Horses need not be registered with the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) to
qualify but must be on the IDHS (GB) Registers by the time of the Championship (further details
in point no. 2 below)
2. Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) £2000 Challenge Qualifiers(Classes 5, 6 & 7)
The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from each of classes 5, 6, & 7 will qualify for the
Final of the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) £2,000 Challenge which will be held at the IDHS (GB)
Annual Breed Show on 30th & 31st August 2014 at the Lincolnshire Showground, Grange-deLings, Lincoln LN2 2NA.
N.B: A horse may only qualify for the Final once, regardless of type or number of classes
won, placed in or entered.
Each qualifier will receive a card and a £10 voucher from Blue Chip. Qualifiers are required to
complete an online form at www.idhsgb.com to inform the IDHS (GB) that they have qualified
for the Final. Following submission of the online form, a qualifier’s pack will be sent out direct

to the qualifier.
In the Final, the Champion will be awarded £1,000 prize money, a Trophy and a Blue Chip rug.
The Reserve Champion will be awarded £500 and 3rd to 7th inclusive will be awarded £100 each.
In addition, the highest placed Pure Bred Irish Draught will be awarded a Trophy and £100 and
the highest placed 158cm (15.2hh) and under will receive a Trophy and £50.

3. NFU Mutual Irish Draught Youngstock Challenge (Classes 12, 13 & 14) The two
Highest placed Pure Breds from each age group - yearlings, two year olds and three year olds eligible for Class 1 on the Irish Draught Breed Register by an RID (GB), ID Class 1 or ID Class 2
sire out of a Graded* dam and also two and three year old fillies already Graded* or, if one or both
have already qualified, the horse next in line in each age group will qualify to go forward to the
Final which will be held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed Show on 30th & 31st August 2014 at the
Lincolnshire Showground, Grange-de-Lings, Lincoln LN2 2NA.
Each qualifier will receive a card. Qualifiers are required to complete an online form at
www.idhsgb.com to inform the IDHS (GB) that they have qualified for the Final. Following
submission of the online form, a qualifier’s pack will be sent out direct to the qualifier.
In the Final, there will be three classes each with prize money to the value of £150. The two highest
placed semi-finalists from each class will go forward to the Championship where the Champion will
receive £150 and the Reserve Champion £100.
4. The Blue Chip North West Showing Championships and the North West Working Hunter
Championships. This Show is holding qualifiers for these Championships which will be held at
Cheshire Riding School, Cogshall Lane, Comberbach, Northwich, Cheshire CW9 6BS. For more
