Thank you for taking your ACLS Course at Action CPR LLC. We are planning a great course and hope we meet all of your learning needs. Please read the course information below; this should answer any questions you might have about the course requirements.

Complete the Pre-Course Self-Assessment (pre-test) found online at www.heart.org/eccstudent .
Upon completion, print out your score sheet and bring it to class. If you do not complete this pretest, you will not be eligible for any needed remediation at the end of the course.
Please make the most of the course by arriving well prepared and before the start time to check- in. The courses start promptly at the published start time. If you arrive too late, you will not be allowed to stay for the course . AHA guidelines state that attendees must attend and successfully complete the entire course to be awarded the completion card.
Per the AHA, you must have a current BLS card at Check-in to be eligible. (American Red
Cross cards are not recognized by AHA.) Adult CPR skills with AED will be evaluated during the ACLS course. Come practiced and prepared to demonstrate 2010 BLS skills!
Bring: o Your copy of the ACLS Provider Manual (c2011). Per the AHA book policy , the current manual is required for course participation . The ECC Handbook (c2010) is optional, but strongly recommended. o A copy of your current AHA ACLS card if you are registered for an ACLS Update
(formerly Renewal) course. If you are not current, you are not eligible for the Update version and must take a full Provider course . o Proof that you completed the Pre-Course Self-Assessment (pre-test). o Proof of your current BLS Provider card. NOTE: American Red Cross cards are not recognized by AHA .
Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes, as you will be asked to demonstrate several skills including CPR. We suggest you dress warmly with layers to accommodate temperature variations from cold to very warm.
Lunch or dinner is on your own.

Successful Course Completion
According to the guidelines of the American Heart Association, for you to successfully complete an
ACLS Course, you must:
Be able to identify (on an ECG monitor) ventricular fibrillation (VF), ventricular tachycardia
(VT), asystole, bradycardia, tachycardia, ST-segment elevation, and artifact.
Demonstrate competency in bag-mask ventilation and adult CPR with AED.
Complete the ACLS 50-question multiple-choice written evaluation with a passing score of 84% or better.
Demonstrate the ability to lead a team of healthcare providers through the first ten minutes of a mock code scenario. The “Megacode” evaluation station puts together everything you have learned in ACLS. You will have opportunity for instruction and practice in the mock patient situations prior to testing.
The course director will make the final decision on successful completion of the course. Upon successful completion, you will receive an AHA ACLS card. An AHA card is good for two years and will expire on the date shown on your card. The American Heart Association does not recognize a grace period after expiration.
