Friends and Patrons of Troop 417 Boy Scout Troop 417 is proud to be a member of the Village of Glendale and is thankful for all the support that we have received over the years. We are active supporting many projects and community events as well as scout campouts, hikes and programs throughout the year. Troop 417 has an excellent record of advancement with approximately twice as many scouts achieving Eagle Scout than is typical and others advancing through scout ranks and Merit Badges. Our troop is a diverse group of boys that don’t just deliver and spread mulch but learn business practices and strong work ethic each year in the spring. Our five disciplines and ten strategies focus on a shared vision of team learning and personal accomplishment of customer service, quality, selling, scheduling, systems, craftsmanship and our Village Troop reputation. Their work and your support allow the Glendale scouts to go on a High Adventure Trip in the summer. For many, they could not otherwise attend such a trip without your generous support. Only the scouts of Troop 417 receive this benefit as adults pay completely their own way although many volunteer work during our mulch delivery and spreading. This year, our annual mulch sale will help pay for a High Adventure Trip to Northern Spain’s Camino Pilgrimage and, the Pyrenees Mountains and Western coast. This will include extensive culture with hiking to be a lifetime experience for all the Scouts. Please see the reverse side for our planned activities for this year’s unique and exciting trip. We will be selling Black Queen City Gold mulch. The prices below include delivery to your home. Our bags are two cubic feet unlike the 1 ½ cubic feet bags at convenience stores and the Black mulch is double shredded, hardwood and the highest quality. We will also be available to spread it for you for the additional charge of $1.50 a bag, a bargain for the appearance to your yard. We have previously totally absorbed our supplier’s price increases for four years and now respectively request a modest increase. We would appreciate your consideration also of a tax deductible donation regardless whether you need mulch this year or not. Any amount is appreciated by the Scouts and greatly helps with additional potential activities on the High Adventure Trip. Destination: Northern Spain. Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage, Pyrenees and the Coast. In June, Glendale’s Troop 417 will head to Northwestern Spain and the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. This most famous Christian pilgrimage after only Jerusalem and Rome represents a thousand years of pilgrims, a thousand miles and the foundation of European society. Santiago’s medieval cathedral is the burial site of the tomb of the Apostle St. James. Pilgrims to Santiago report a life changing and spiritual experience. The Glendale Scouts plan to hike a portion of the Camino Trail and then hike into the Pyrenees Mountains and head to the Western Coast. There the Scouts will visit the remote island Atlantic Maritime National Park as well as coastal villages and the ocean. This twelve day trip will be full of many adventures as they represent the Village of Glendale. This grand High Adventure Trip will include culture along with learning and exploring one of the most famous hikes in the world. Like all of Troop 417s Scouts High Adventure Trips, this one is certain to be a once in a lifetime experience full of culture, excitement, education, physical challenge and, of course, adventure. Thank you for your support to make this trip possible.
