Long , long ago when the Saxons were raiding Britain, there lived a bright purple, ghastly, water breathing dragon of Candbury (a beggarly village in Scotland).
This menacing dragon was flooding buildings by breathing on them with his watery breath and ruining the crops and flowers.
Jacob, a strong young wood cutter, decided to do something about this horrid beast so he set off on a journey to the king of Scotland one hundred miles north to request for some help, but when he got there three days later he found that there were ten strong
Celts guarding the king’s castle. He got out his best axe and his strongest shield made from the best leather and a huge fight began between the ten Celts and the amazing Jacob. Jacob won but ended up with a broken arm. He stepped over the dead Celt bodies and entered the castle.
Jacob asked a servant where the king’s quarters were and the servant led him to the king. When he got to the wise king, fully dressed in ruby red, Jacob asked him for help and told him all about the purple water breathing dragon. The King asked his head nurse to examine Jacob’s arm; she made sure he was fit for battle and the King’s General made sure he was fully
equipped. He also gave him a pair of fine white feathered wings and told him to use them wisely. Jacob thought for a while and then he remembered something from a book that one of the only things that could defeat water was snow. He thought about where he could get snow from, then he thought “maybe because I have wings I could fly up to the gods and ask them politely to make it snow so the dragon of
Scotland will finally be beaten”.
The gods listened to Jacob and made it snow the following day, and the king was so proud he gave Jacob his daughter’s hand in marriage. After the wedding
Jacob and his new wife headed back to Candbury to find that the menacing dragon was lying dead on the floor, and then the whole town of Candbury had a big celebration, they all congratulated Jacob on his marriage, Jacob and Mellissa (the kings daughter) had a happy life together and they had two twin girls called
Amelia and Lily.
