CSCMP Board of Directors Form Joining the board is something that can benefit individuals in many ways. Everyone has their reasons for joining and as much as possible we would like to help members achieve their personal and professional goals. This process was created to help potential board members understand the benefits of being an active participant of the Roundtable Board. It also helps to convey what we expect from you, what you can expect from the board and allows us an opportunity to learn more about you. What we expect from you There are a few basic expectations that we would like you to understand prior to considering becoming part of the Roundtable Board. The board meets 10 times during the year, once a month from September through June for about 1.5 hours. We typically meet the third Thursday of each month from 5:00 to 6:30pm in the Long Beach area. It is expected that board members attend at least 7 of the 10 meetings. In addition, we typically have 10 events during the same time frame and expect attendance at a minimum of half of these events. All board members must also be members of CSCMP. Board members will be required to pay the member price for any events attended, although they are often offered discounts for the larger events like the Annual Global Conference (AGC) or other products/services by HQ as a thank you for their volunteer service to the organization. What you can expect from us There are numerous benefits you can expect by being an active participant of the board. Some of these include: Personal leadership development, small business marketing, promotion and organizational skills, exposure to local leaders of our profession, networking, supply chain education, and CSCMP discounts on membership, local and global events. All board members grow both personally and professionally from the experience and find the opportunity rewarding and fulfilling. Opportunities for involvement There are many ways board members can contribute. One way is to occupy a cabinet position.
