Are you willing to provide psychiatric care to patients? Here’s your opportunity to assess, diagnose, and provide treatment to psychiatric patients admitted to the hospital. This is an opportunity to be involved in hospital-wide operations through membership on various hospital committees, and the performance of peer review activities; and participate in hospital wide and unit specific performance improvement activities. Some of the duties Psychiatrists provide psychiatric care to patients on three wards (Forensic Services Unit, Adult Psychiatric Unit, and Geropsychiatric Unit), and performs comprehensive diagnostic assessments of patients in order to create individual treatment plans. Other duties include certifying medical necessity of hospital level of care; prescribe and review appropriate medication and treatment; perform ongoing assessments of the patient’s response to treatments; and for patients in seclusion, develop and review a release plan or justification for continuing the use. Who should apply People who have a license to practice medicine and surgery in the State of Washington or the ability to obtain a valid license prior to employment, has successfully graduated from a psychiatric residency program, and obtains sufficient continuing medical education to maintain current competency in position held. Here’s what we’re looking for Ideally, in addition to the above qualifications, we are looking for people who have had experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting. We would also like someone who is able to effectively communicate with Eastern State Hospital management, peers, patients, and the public.
