Clinical Integration: The process of integrating the distinct departments of the SWC progressed with website
development (www.trentu.ca/wellness), shared access to clinical records, review of policies and forms to ensure
consistency across departments, enhancements in the cross referral process, and developments in the Care
Coordination team with the appointment of team leaders in SAS and TCC.
Conference Presentation: The Student Wellness Centre was invited by the Centre for Innovation in Campus
Mental Health (CMHA – Toronto) to join a panel discussion at the Ontario University and College Health
Association’s annual conference as the model institution to undergo integration of services and develop a
collaborative model of interdisciplinary services delivery.
Rebranding for SAS: In a move to further reduce the stigma associated with disabilities, the Disability Services
Office was renamed Student Accessibility Services.
Evening Hours: All three departments improved accessibility by offering extended hours one night a week. This
pilot project demonstrated that there was a big need for students to have after hours services available
(especially for those who are in placements or clinical rotations throughout the day).
Single and Brief Session Counselling: Introduced a single session and brief psychotherapy model (4-session) in
addition to the longer terms support that many clients require.
Student Health Promoter (SHP) Program, including 15 volunteers, one Program Assistant (through TWSP
funding). The SHP were able to engage in peer-to-peer interactions about important health topics with over 500
students on campus through tabling, workshops, games, walk-about, contests, etc.
Health Services: Awarded a $4,000.00 performance grant in addition to the $54,000.00 previously awarded for
the adoption of electronic medical records.
Doctor Recruitment: Dr. Meredith Winning joined SHS as a medical physician while Dr. Steph Dallaire
announced that he will not return for the 14-15 academic year to set-up a private practise in Peterborough.
Naturapathic Docter/Dietician: Expanded services to provide more holistic care for students with Dr. Laura
Anderson and Lise Leahy offering one afternoon clinic per week
Trent Central Student Association: Improved access to services and treatment through collaboration with the
TSCA to ensure student’s needs are met through the benefits plan and Health Services (Direct2U prescriptions,
the preferred practitioner program, and the HPV vaccination program).
Not Myself Today A University wide campaign and event to raise awareness about mental health in the
workplace (N=123).
Enhanced Mentoring Fund: In collaboration with the Office of Human Rights, Equity & Accessibility successfully
attained a $75,000 grant from MTCU for targeted programming to students and staff/faculty.
