Hello Staff, Parents, Carers and friends,
It is now only 4 weeks until the end of Term 2 and over the
last fortnight there have been significant numbers of staff
and students who have been absent due to illness.
I wish them all a speedy recovery and a ‘thank you’ to
parents and carers who kept their children at home until
they were fully recovered.

Parsons, a Grade 10 student enrolled at Leighlands who is
undertaking one week’s work experience in the Blue Room.
Caitlin presents as an energetic and willing helper who
really shows an interest in working with students with
severe disabilities. Thank you for your contribution this
week.

National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Week (CP Week) is celebrated annually to recognise the
achievements of people with cerebral palsy and to create greater awareness, understanding and
acceptance.
This year it will be held from Sunday 31 July to 6 August 2011. Through CP Week it is our goal to work
to make our community more inclusive, more accessible and more welcoming for people living with
Cerebral Palsy. This year Cerebral Palsy Australia are highlighting the need for our communities to focus
on seeing people with cerebral palsy firstly just as people, and to work together to achieve full social
inclusion.
“National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Week highlights that with the right support people with Cerebral
Palsy can and do reach their potential, despite the economic, physical and attitudinal barriers often
faced,” said Diana Heggie, President, Cerebral Palsy Australia.
