Compare & Contrast – Macbeth
“It will have blood; they say, blood will have blood.” That is significant of the written
and played. Macbeth was written by the famous William Shakespeare. The story is based on a
Tragedy. A not so happy ending. There are several similarities and differences between the one
read and the one seen in the play. Although the play was played somewhat differently and
missed some parts, it was of the same concept.
The most similar of them all is the title. They both have the same names. An obvious
observation, a simple one as well. The author of the play is also the same. William Shakespeare
is the author behind it all. The Setting of the play was also the same. The same time period. Same
location. Same type of outfits. Same type of speaking.
The Play seen had a lot of differences. They were somewhat obvious for the most part.
But it was difficult to locate them with the old English speaking. It was very complicated and
hard to keep up with. The best difference that was noticed was the audience interaction. There is
a part of the play where the man actually talks to the audience and breaks the wall that separates
the audience from the performance or performers. It was quiet entertaining compare to the
reading. The reading is no doubt more boring than could be imagined. Some of the different parts
from the reading to the play is that the play had a girl sung to by the mother instead of a son in
the reading. Another difference is when the witches were waving the dagger at him. The
explanation of the wounded soldier was different from the play than from the reading. It was
different in the reading than in the play. The comedic relief kept the play extremely fun to watch.

It made the audience feels as if they are in fact just not reading. The performers successfully
were able to complete such task. The witches were not scary in the play. They were rather
entertaining and funny. They did look somewhat creepy but they act not such. The play, being a
musical, kept the witches from looking the least amount of horror compare to the reading. The
other characters who also have sung have made the play more fun to watch with every singing of
the beautiful voices of the performers. The dancing was also quite nice. It was in great order
which was pleasant.
Knowledge and pleasure stand aside from each other in these two subjects. The play was
very entertaining but at the same time it missed some parts which leads to the part that it lacked
knowledge or information. The reading had deep knowledge, very detailed but the reader may
not be as entertaining as watching the play, not much pleasure as the play. The idea stays the
same, despite the missing pieces and differences.
