Membership
Membership Marketing Tip: Optimize your Website
A recent stat shows 90% of consumer buying decisions start on the web. Is it easy to learn about membership, see the benefits
and the price and then join and possibly renew online? If not, put some time and energy into that! A bad online experience will
only make it harder to get those people interested later.
2013 Membership Goals
The Membership Star/Superstar program will recognize chapters that have sustained or increased membership. Chapters
attaining 1.0--3.99% in-chapter SHRM membership growth will be recognized as Stars and 4.0% and above in-chapter growth
as Superstars. Refer to the Membership section of the Volunteer Leader Resource Center (VLRC) for resources to assist in
meeting these goals: VLRC - Membership.

state councils:
* HR Scenario Planning: Key Tool for Managing Economic Uncertainty New!
* Business Ethics for HR Professionals New!

Orientation Presentation for Chapter Boards
Engage and educate your chapter board by providing them with an orientation to their role. An updated Power Point
presentation is available to orientate chapter board members. This presentation can be customized for your chapter and can be
accessed at this link: Orientation Presentation for Chapter Boards.
2013 SHAPE Planning Workbooks
The 2013 SHAPE Planning Workbooks and Worksheets are now available in the SHAPE Center of the VLRC! As a reminder,
chapter representation at the State Leadership Conferences is now required in Section 1. Please plan on sending a
representative so that your chapter is in compliance with this requirement, especially as many of these events happen early in
the year. If you have any questions about the 2013 SHAPE, please contact your Field Services Director. Visit the SHAPE Center
for more information about the SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE).
The Idea Center – Affiliate Successful Practices Center
The Idea Center has moved online! We moved the Idea Center from the SHAPE Planning Workbook for 2012. The new online
version replaces the version previously found in the appendix of the planning workbook. The new online version includes samples
of initiatives reported in the 2010 and 2011 SHAPE Year-End Reports. We've expanded the number of initiatives being shared
and placed them in spreadsheets for ease of use. Check out the new online Idea Center in the Affiliate Successful Practices
Center.
