Plans for 2015-2016 The Gender Equity Council is in the process of defining our plans for the upcoming academic year, and we have started to look into a few equity topics: With pending budget cuts, examine potential impact on Women and Gender Studies program, the Women's Center, and faculty leaving. Examine scope of GEC (Is GEC focused on all gender equity or the status of women?) Maternity and paternity leave o Coordinate an effort to compile information of these benefits in one location. o Examine current policies Pregnant students o Help connect students to resources so that they can understand their rights. Verify that staff and faculty handbooks have appropriate language (e.g., gender and marriage). Evaluated signage for the Gender Neutral/Family Restrooms Evaluate our signature event: Recognizing Women With these priorities outlined, the Gender Equity Council is ready to pursue a productive 2015-2016 academic year.
