Early Childhood / Early Learning 2014-15
Many school districts offer Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) services (free of charge) for our resident children, ages 3-5 years who qualify
under the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act). We also provide developmental screening and assessments/ evaluations. Insert locations
of special education preschool classrooms in your county/school district/community.
Many school districts also work with community preschools, child care providers and parents of children, ages birth-five, in building connections between
community and schools to support children’s development and school readiness skills.

Child Care Aware ESD 112 service - offers information to parents on licensed child care providers in their community and tips on how to find high-quality child
care. ESD 112 provides training, scholarships, and other resources to licensed child care providers. *Formerly the Washington State Child

ECEAP “Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program” State-funded preschool program that provides free services and support to eligible children and their families (~110% of poverty or below),
including preschool, family support and parent involvement, and child health and nutrition services. EOCF has contract for most ECEAP
classes in Evergreen area. ESD 112 has a site on the Image campus. Current Evergreen ECEAP locations: Burton, Image, Ellsworth,
Riverview, Sifton, Sunset.
ESIT- “Early Support for Infants and Toddlers Program” Special education services for birth-3 years: Located in the Department of Early Learning, ESIT provides early intervention services,
including family resources coordination, for eligible children from birth to age three and their families. ESD 112 is lead agency for Clark
county. To schedule a screening or referral, call 360.750.7507.
EOCF “Educational Opportunities for Children and Families” Social Service agency providing early childhood education services, including Head Start, Early Head Start and ECEAP classes. Current
Evergreen locations: Burton, Ellsworth, EHS, Image, Orchards, Riverview, Sifton, Silver Star, Sunset
Head Start Federally funded preschool program that provides free services and support to eligible children and their families (~130% of poverty or
below), including preschool, family support and parent involvement, and child health and nutrition services. EOCF is the governing agency.
Current Evergreen Head Start locations: Burton/ECC, Ellsworth, EHS, Orchards, Pioneer, Riverview, Sifton, Silver Star, Sunset. Also
locations at Prairie View Apts. (near Silver Star) and at Family Center (near Orchards).
IEP “Individualized Education Plan” –
A written document that guides the delivery of special education supports and services for a student with a disability.
IFSP “Individual Family Service Plan” –
An IEP --a written document that guides the delivery of special education supports and services for a preschool age student with a disability
(some states have IFSP through age 7).
