Call for Presentation
1 st Student Sustainability Conference
City University of Hong Kong
Dear students,
We are proud to open the Call for Presentation for the Student Sustainability Conference. The Student
Sustainability Conference is intended to raise environmental awareness and to promote sustainability among CityU students. It is a brilliant stage for you to share your journeys towards a better understanding of sustainability issues and to disseminate your interesting discoveries. Your research and presentation skills will be demonstrated and sharpened as well!
Students from social sciences, natural sciences and engineering backgrounds are all welcome to present your findings on sustainability issues. Your discoveries can take many forms, such as identifying a problem not seen before, or offering a new perspective towards an existing problem, or developing new solutions for an existing problem. Presentations can be based on either individual or group work (a research group can have a maximum of 6 people).
Interested students please submit your proposals including a title, contributors, affiliations, and abstract (within 300 words) of your presentation at stdconf@cityu.edu.hk
by 20 September 2013.
After having received your proposals, the Academic Advisory Committee will select, based on practical significance and academic merits, up to 10 proposals for both oral and poster presentation and up to 30 proposals for poster presentation only. Invitation letter to Academic Advisory Committee (AAC)
Dear Professor (Name),
It is our great pleasure and honor to invite you to serve on the Academic Advisory
Committee (AAC) of the CityU Student Sustainability Conference. This conference is planned to be held on 30 November 2013. The objective of this conference is the following:
1.
Raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainability among
CityU students.
2.
Sharing the journeys towards a better understanding of sustainability issues.
3.
Demonstrating research skills and disseminating interesting discoveries.
The timeline of this conference is also attached in this letter.
Students will be invited to submit their abstracts for presentation. We would like our
Academic Advisors to evaluate student submissions. Currently, we plan to have altogether 40 abstracts selected for poster presentation, 10 of which that are of top rate quality will be selected for oral presentation. We hope to have 5 oral presentations by science and engineering students, and the other 5 by social sciences students at the conference. Of course, the number of both oral and poster presentations will be dictated by the quality of student submissions. So please feel free to exercise your authority as an AAC member but not be limited by the proposed quota.
Thanks very much for your kind consideration and help in advance! We very much look forward to working with you and learning from you on this Student Sustainability Conference.
Because it is the first time for us to organize such a conference, we would also highly appreciate if you could give us some suggestions and advice. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our advisor, Wanxin Li at wanxin.li@cityu.edu.hk
by email and 3442 9651 by phone.
