PH SIM: Readings in Philosophy Short Title: Full Title: Module Code: Valid From: Administrator: Module Coordinator: Description: Readings in Philosophy Readings in Philosophy: (a) Plato’s writings through Greek (b) Philosophy and the body (c) St. Thomas Aquinas on the human soul PH SIM NFQ Level: 8 ECTS Credits: 5 Module Aims: Students would study 1 topic as rotated through (a), (b) and (c) and this would allow them to investigate in some depth either (a) a selection of Plato’s writings in Greek or (b) philosophical views on the human body or (c) Aquinas’s views on the human soul and some of the difficulties that his analysis poses. The module studied might also interest students to pursue their investigations more fully, perhaps for the extended essay and/ or for postgraduate research, depending on circumstances.
