at a number manageable for their selection committee
b. Selection Committees
 A selection committee will be established in each college/unit. Selection committees will be
determined by the Dean of each college/unit and should be composed of at least one faculty
member, one alumnus and one student from that college and the dean or their designated
representative.
c. Evaluation Criteria
 For undergraduate nominees:
 An Outstanding Student Achievement Award recipient should be a well-rounded and successful
member of his or her campus and community. Tie-breaking areas of selection could include
GPA, leadership activities and strength of class load as it pertains to each student’s major.
 For graduate nominees:
 Graduate nominees should meet the same criteria as undergraduate nominees. As graduate
degrees differ in their completion requirements, each candidate will likely come with different
degrees of research, published materials and teaching experience. Selection committees should
discuss and weigh the importance of research, published materials and the amount of time spent
teaching.
3. Recognition Ceremony
a. Reception
 Outstanding Student Award recipients will be honored at a reception in the Bistline Thrust
Theatre and the Samuel Horne Bennion Promenade inside the Stephens Performing Arts Center.

 All Outstanding Student Award recipients are invited to participate in and be recognized at the
May Commencement ceremony, regardless of the actual month of graduation.

in the processional.

from the Office of Alumni Relations.
