Hey Timberwolves, Guest passes are now available on the Activity Center door. Tickets
will begin to be sold this Wednesday and will be $15 with a asb card and 20$ without a asb card.
The homecoming theme for this year is the Great Gatsby! Welcome to the roaring 20’s!
Hey, JHS students! Do you find yourself tapping your foot to music, do you play drums
on the steering wheel while you’re driving? You may be what we’re looking for! The JHS Jazz
choir is looking for a willing participant to be our drummer! One of the best instructors in
Washington will be teaching you for free and you will have tons of fun! Drop by Ms. Hitt’s
office in the choir room and talk more about this opportunity. First come, first served. (two more
days)
Attention Everyone! Model U.N. will have its first meeting today at 2:10pm in Ms.
Shee’s room (C130). If you want to meet new people and gain an interest in modern world topics
Come! There will be free food! (today)
Gay-Straight Alliance meets every Tuesday after school in C119. We have lots of fun
creating an open minded environment for Jackson and are looking for new members to help us
spread our messages of acceptance. We are currently making preparation for ally week, which is
a week that thanks all of our LBGTQ allies. WE hope to see you on Tuesday in C119! (one more
day)
Hey Jackson! It’s banned Books Week Sept. 23-27th. Join us by being part of the banned
books trivia contest. Each day a trivia question will be announced, answers should be submitted
to the contest box in the library. Winners will be announced each morning through Monday,
Sept. 30th, daily winner may pick up their prizes in the library during lunches! Today’s question:
which book by a popular young adult author, whose last name is a color, was banned in 2012?
Boy's Tennis Teams is off to a 6 wins - 0 losses start to the season. The varsity has
beaten Glacier Peak, Mariner, Kamiak, Lynnwood, and Edmonds/Woodway to start the year.
This extends the match winning streak to 72 matches in a row which cover 4 1/2 years without a
lost. A great accomplishment by the players. Come watch the varsity this week at home on
Monday vs. Cascade and Thursday vs. Lake Stevens. A great chance to see some great tennis
being played by your timberwolves. (two more days)
Signed up for National Art Honor Society or still interested in joining? Come to room
C115 after school today for a meeting. (today)
The University of Southern California will be visiting the career center on Wednesday,
September 25th at 1pm. Please remember to pick up a pre-arranged absence form from Mrs.
Allen in the Career Center so that you may attend the presentation (today)
There will be a mandatory open campus meeting before school tomorrow at 7:15 am in
the activity center.
The alphabet that the counselors use to determine what students they work with has
changed slightly. This is because we were able to add more employment time to our staff. As a
result, the alphabet needed to be tweaked to balance the numbers. The new alphabet is the
following:
If you last name is A-C your counselor is Ms. Tucker
If your last name is D-Hun your counselor is Ms. Sperry
If your last name is Hur-Min your counselor is Ms. Williams
If your last name is Mis-Sc your counselor is Mr. Turner
If your last name is Se-z your counselor is Ms. McIntosh.
I will read this again tomorrow just in case you didn’t catch it today. This is also on the
JHS website.
The first time in Washington State history, students were elected to serve at the national
level. Sri Nimmagadda was elected National Vice President and Sai Nimmagadda was elected
National Treasurer; both will now serve over 200,000 students from around the globe. TSA.. The
Technology Student Association will be having its first meeting on Tuesday, October 2nd in the
library. All students are welcome to come and participate in this national competing
organization. Be a leader, for more information see Mr. Wigre’s webpage or drop by his room in
C-121.
For today’s sports: Girls soccer is at home against Cascade at 7:30pm. Girls volleyball
has a game at 7pm tonight against Glacier Peak at Glacier Peak.
