SB149 Individual Graduation Committee (IGC)
During the 2015 legislative session, Senate Bill (SB) 149 was created to offer eligible
students an alterative way to graduate from high school. The intention of the bill was to create
Individual Graduation Committees (IGC) as a method of reviewing a student’s achievement
outside of STAAR EOC to determine their academic preparedness for post-secondary education.
This process has been designed to facilitate the various aspects required and recommended for
students to graduate based on the SB149 criteria. In meeting the expectations of SB149, Lyford
CISD has developed the attached procedures as the criteria for deeming a student eligible and
prepared to graduate under SB 149. Throughout this process, it is expected that all parties will
engage valuable discussions with the attached documents and act in the best interest of each
individual student.
