As semester one comes to a close at the end of January, the staff and students of G. P. Vanier will be preparing for the Semester One

This schedule will allow students to prepare for and complete their provincial exams and provide Grade 10-12 students tutorial time
with their subject teachers. As well, Grade 12 students will complete their Grad Transition Workshops and Exit Interviews
(January Graduates Only). These are requirements for graduation and worth four Graduation Credits. Grade 10-12 students
will be required to attend their regular classes Monday-Thursday afternoons. Grade 8&9 students will attend their regular classes
Monday-Thursday. The provincial exam schedule is below:

Friday, January 29th will be an “I” day for all grades. Any students who have not successfully completed a course (received an “I”
grade) will be required by their individual course teachers to attend on Friday.
In response to parent and student feedback from last year we would like to offer students the opportunity to study and prepare for
provincial exams at home if they feel their home provides a preferable study environment. Parents can contact the school (250) 3389262 to excuse their son/daughter from Monday-Thursday mornings if you would prefer your child study at home. Please keep in mind
this is for Gr. 10-12 students only and they are required to attend regular classes in the afternoon.
The morning tutorials provide an opportunity for Grade 10-12 students to meet with their various teachers throughout the morning to
prepare for final assessments, complete any missing assignments and rewrite any tests/assignments which qualify. Students will be
responsible for using this time to support their own learning and ensure they have completed their courses to the best of their ability.
The administration team, teaching staff and support staff would like thank you for your support during this week as we all work
together to ensure the success of each student.
Sincerely Yours,
Brian McAskill
Vice-Principal, GP Vanier Secondary
