Discussion
1. CRM 2011 Upgrade
The system issues identified to date have been resolved. Please report any additional issues as they
occur.
Some fields are not auto-populating correctly based on the activity type/sub-type combination. We
will add fields as needed upon submission of applications and let you know so that the
corresponding documentation can be uploaded. Issues identified to date include:
 Live Chapter only applications – timed agenda
 Third-Party applications - Educational Partner Questionnaire to Determine Status as a
Commercial Interest and Third Party Check List/Attestation” forms.
2. CME document upload changes
Live Activity – Mechanism to Measure Outcomes
The last conference call minutes reflect changes made that provide additional time, where possible,
to submit required documentation during the pre-activity vs application phase. These changes will
allow for application approval in a timelier manner.
The Mechanism to Measure Outcomes
 Competence – example would be a copy of your pre/post questions; if the pre/post
questions being utilized to measure a change in competence are reflected on the Planning
Document, please upload a document stating such. At a minimum, there must be pre and
post questions to show a change in competence.
 Performance – example for a skills lab would be the checklist faculty utilizes to document
attendee performance on the various procedures.
 Patient Outcomes – example would be a copy of a follow-up survey disseminated 3-6
months post-activity to find out if attendees changed their practice as a result of activity
participation.
3. ACEP CME Joint Sponsorship program
Dina will be creating a task force to gather input from Chapters that do Third Party activities to
utilize when developing guidelines for expansion of our current Joint Sponsorship program.
Guidelines will ensure that existing and future Chapter revenue streams are protected.
4. Promotional Material review and approval
ALL promotional materials MUST be approved by us prior to dissemination. If revisions are
required, the revised version(s) must be submitted for final approval.
Promotional materials include (but are not limited to:
 Email blasts
 Webpage promo
 Post cards
 Save the Dates
 Registration Brochures
 On-site program
We are working with our IT department to determine whether or not programming changes can be
implemented that will allow for the uploading of multiple promotional materials with the status
being viewable by Chapter staff. For the time being, when promotional material is uploaded to the
application Pre-Activity phase, you will receive an e-mail upon approval of each piece.
5. Quarterly Conference Call minutes
Previous minutes have been added to the online application “Resource” page under a “Quarterly
Conference Call minutes” category.
6. Questions & Answer session
ACEP is monitoring the proposed Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines changes
and will disseminate information as changes are finalized.
The ACCME is implementing new guidelines they claim will simplify the accreditation process. Dina
will be attending the annual ACCME workshop next week in Chicago and will follow up upon her
return with any changes to ACEP policies/procedures.
