ST. MARY’S SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME
Next Sunday, 12th October the Enrolment Ceremony will take
place at the 11 o’clock Mass for parents who wish their children
to complete their Christian Initiation by receiving the
Sacraments of Confirmation, Reconciliation and Holy
Communion. Please play your part by praying for the children
and their families, and by making the children feel welcome
when they come to church.
AFRICAN WEEK IN ST. MARY’S SCHOOL
On Monday, 6th October St. Mary’s School will be holding an
African Harvest Mass at 2pm. As we approach this celebration
we will be supporting the homeless and vulnerable in our
society by collecting for the Cornerstone Day Centre,
Manchester. The centre would be grateful for any tinned foods,
dried goods and toiletries. Please try and come along to the
Mass. It will coincide with the beginning of Africa Week in the
school and will be celebrated by Fr. Eamonn Mulcahy.
FEAST OF BLESSED JOHN HENRY NEWMAN
On Thursday, 9th October, the feast of Blessed John Henry
Newman there will Solemn Mass & Veneration of the Relic at
5.30pm in the Oratory Church of St. Chad, Cheetham Hill
Road, M8 8GG. The preacher will be Fr. Eamonn Mulcahy of
the Spiritan Community at St. Anne’s, Ancoats.

Blessed John Henry Newman: beatified by Pope Benedict XVI
in Birmingham in 2010. He was born in London in 1801 and
died in 1890. Educated at Oxford, he was the most notable
Catholic convert of the age. He became a member of the Oratory
of St. Philip Neri, and was made Cardinal by Leo XIII.
Pray for the sick and housebound especially for those who are
known to you, especially Bridie White. May the Good Lord
strengthen and comfort them. Pray also for all who care for the
sick.

We welcome our new Bishop John Arnold who is at
present Auxiliary Bishop in Westminster Diocese. Bishop
John Arnold will be installed as Bishop of Salford on 8th
December, 2014.
RCIA INTRODUCTORY MEETING
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) begins with an
introductory meeting on Wednesday, 15th October at 7.30pm
in St. Mary’s Presbytery. The program is open not only to
those seeking to become Catholic, but also to baptised Catholics
in need of First Communion and/or Confirmation, and fully
initiated Catholics wishing to learn more about their faith. This
is an informational meeting only. You will not be obligated to

YOUTH CONFERENCE A youth event: ‘Embrace’ will be
held at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King,
Liverpool, on 1st November. There will be transport to this
event leaving from Salford Cathedral; for further information
contact Lorraine Leonard in the Office for Youth Ministry
at Cathedral Centre on 0161 817 2205. See poster on the
notice board in the church porch.
Last Sunday’s Macmillan Coffee Morning raised £254.80.
