Holes End of Unit Assignment
Directions: You will be writing in the style of Louis Sachar, by intertwining stories and incorporating
flashback, in order to explain how two characters, other than Stanley and Zero, came to Camp Green
Lake. Your story must intertwine the stories of these two characters, similar to the way Sachar does
with Stanley and Zero. Your story should show how the actions of one character impact the other
character.
Forms of Presentation:
Option One: Write a two to three page short story
Option Two: Create a children’s book with illustrations with at least twelve pages of writing
Option Three: Write a script for a two to four minute skit
Steps for the Project: These will be checked by the teacher throughout the process. Students will
have a conference with the teacher after they complete their story map to discuss their final project.
1. Choose your two characters (X-Ray, Squid, Magnet, Armpit, or Zigzag).
2. Using the information in your character log for the two characters and the novel, create a Venn
diagram to think about the connections of the characters.
3. Create a story map to outline the story line of your assignment.
4. Create your final project.
