Women's tournament: a Latvian surprise team and a 3-set win for the Germans Mersmann / Schneider. Men's tournament: another victory for Germany. Also Holler / Schröder win tight in 3 sets. Super-tempered weather gods for Vaduz tournament 2015th In the ladies' final, it came again to a duel from the 3rd round: Mersmann / Schneider met again the Latvian women and fought with them a great fight: They won in three sets (18:21, 21:18, 15:11) , 3rd place went to the Austrian Nr. 1 of the tournament Schützenhöfer / Plesiutschnig. Also in the men’s final it came to a replay from the 3rd round. Again won Holler / Schröder against Caminati / Rossi, however, extremely tightly in 3 sets. The women’s finals and also the big final of the men were played in front of full house with more than 1,000 spectators. Overall, this year almost 10,000 spectators came to the Städtle. High class men’s finals in 3 sets Both in the match for 3rd place as well as the big final only a few points made the difference between victory and defeat. At the poles Kosiak / Rudol blocker Rudol wasn’t that sure a few times in the reception, resulting in too weak attacks. In the first set, this meant the 23:21 for the Belgians Koekelkoren / van Walle. In the sets 2 and 3, the Poles were able to turn the game and won the 3rd 15:13. Rudol summed up as follows: "We are very happy with this 3rd place. We had to fight through the loser draw and had to play a lot of games. Maybe we were a little more experienced, but it was a very, very close game. " Kontakt Medien: Raphael Imhof, hey@raphaelimhof.ch, +41 76 413 88 08 The final match between Caminati / Rossi, the Italian No. 2 of the tournament and Holler / Schröder (no. 14) was very similar: Few points decided about the victory: 16-21, 21-19, 13-15. Tim Holler, who was often set under pressure by services, scored often with line-lobs. Tim Holler then said also that in such a tight match also luck may have decided on a few balls. "We have known that we could not go through as easy as in round 3. We are very happy that we could win the tournament. Jonas (Schroeder, editor's note) was for half a year abroad, our game fits more and more together and we keep on improving." Even Caminati / Rossi saw the game this way: "We were glad that we played much better than in round 3. Of course we are disappointed that we didn’t win. A few balls decide at this level the games." The men’s semi-finals The Germans Holler / Schröder were also too strong for the U23 World Champion of the last year Kosiak / Rudol from Poland: 22-20, 18-21, 15-13. In a high-class, balanced semi-final, no team was able to go in the lead in one of the sets. Thus, an open fight developed, thrilling in every moment of the game. The Germans won the game because their block / defense system at the end worked a little bit better. Jonas Schroeder dug repeatedly incredible balls out, Tim Holler showed his potential in the block. The Italians Caminati / Rossi sat through a bit clearer earlier in the first semi-final against the Belgians Koekelkoren / van Walle. The score was 2:1 too, 21-16, 22-24, 8-15, the Italians had after two absolutely balanced sets some advantages in the third set.
