In granting this sanction it is understood and agreed that USA Swimming and Inland Empire
Swimming shall be free and held harmless from any liabilities or claims for damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event. Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone camera, is not allowed in changing areas, rest rooms, or locker rooms.
Deck Changing is prohibited: Changing into or out of swimsuits other than in the facility locker rooms, or other designated area designated by the host facility, is not appropriate, and is prohibited.

Open to all USA registered swimmers. Swimmers age as of January 3, 2014 shall apply for the entire meet. No entrant will be permitted to compete unless that entrant is a member of USA Swimming as provided in Article 302 of the USA Swimming Rules and Regulations. Deck entries will not be accepted.
On-deck registrations are not permitted. Swimmers not represented by a coach must check in with the meet referee before warm-ups. Athletes with a disability are welcome and are asked to provide advance notice of necessary accommodations.
***Whitman College Liability Waiver***
Whitman College Board of Trustees requires all swimmers that utilize the Harvey Pool to sign the attached Liability Waiver form. This form is a requirement for entrance into the January Storm 2014.
The USA Swimming SWIMS database requires that ALL swimmer data, including results, be correct before any meet data (swimmer times) will be loaded into the USA Swimming database.
If you know of any swimmer data that is NOT correct in the meet database please notify the meet referee as soon as possible. The appropriate changes will be made. The data will be sent to USA
Swimming within 3 days of the meet. Thanks for your cooperation.
MEET FORMAT:
This meet will be a Timed Finals, Split format meet. Morning Sessions: 8 & Under, 9-10, and boys 11-12.
Afternoon Sessions: Girls 11-12, 13-14, 15 & over.
INDIVIDUAL ENTRIES:
Swimmers may enter a maximum of two (2) individual events on Friday, and five (5) individual events on
Saturday and Sunday. Failure of any swimmer to comply with the five events per day rule will result in the swimmer being scratched from all events after the fifth entered event of that session at the discretion of the meet director. Swimmers ages 8 & under are limited to a maximum of 4 individual events per day. The
400 IM and 1650 will be swum fastest to slowest.
We reserve the right to change the warm up and start times after the entries are received. Please check www.wwswimclub.org for any changes. The meet director reserves the right to limit entries to ensure that sessions fall within USA Swimming’s recommended guidelines for age group competitions.
RELAY ENTRIES:
Swimmers may enter a maximum of one (1) relay per day. All coaches must give the relay names and order to the computer staff before each relay swims

Warm-ups - 4:30 – 5:15 p.m. Events start – 5:30 p.m.
Warm-ups – 7:30 a.m. Events start – 8:30 a.m.
Sat & Sun Afternoon: Session 3 & 5 Warm-ups begin immediately following morning sessions. Events begin one hour after conclusion of morning session. Meet marshals will be present during warm-ups.
POSITIVE CHECK IN EVENTS:
Positive check-in will be conducted for the 500 and 1650 Freestyles. If a swimmer fails to check in by the deadline below, they will not be allowed to compete in that event. If a swimmer checks in and then fails to swim in the event, the swimmer will be disqualified from his/her next individual event.

11 & over Due Prior to event # 87
Swimmers are responsible for providing their own timers and lap counters for the 500 and 1650 Freestyle events. The 500 and 1650 Freestyle will be swum fastest to slowest mixed gender girls and boys.
Relays: All coaches must give the relay names and order to the computer staff before each relay swims.
SEEDING:
All events will be seeded with SCY times.
ENTRIES:
***January Storm 2014 will be limited to approximately 350 swimmers***
** All entries must be received no later than Wednesday, December 25th, at 5:00 PM. For IES teams to get priority placement, they must have their entries in by Friday, December 20 th , at 5:00 PM. Submit early to avoid being closed out. Entries will be limited at the discretion of the meet director. The meet director has the right to limit entries if the meet becomes over-subscribed according to USAS guidelines. No phone entries will be accepted. Swimmers entering a meet must be registered with IES by the meet entry deadline date. Non USA-S members may register for a single meet registration.

ENTRY FEES:
$3.00 per individual event, $12.00 per relay and $10.00 surcharge per athlete. Make all checks payable to the “Walla Walla Swim Club”.
AWARDS:
Swimmers 12 & under will receive ribbons for 1 st
-8 th place. Swimmers 13 & ove r will receive “bag tags” in lieu of ribbons. High Point Awards will be given for both male and female swimmers in the following categories: 8 & under, 9 & 10, 11 & 12, 13 & 14, 15 & over. Awards that are not picked up be brought to the next meet attended by WWSC or funds to be provided for shipping and handling.

PROGRAMS/CONCESSIONS/SWIM APPAREL:
Programs, concessions, and a limited range of swimming apparel and accessories will be available for sale at the meet. There will be no credit card purchases available.
RULES:
Applicable USA Swimming rules shall govern this competition. Inland Empire Swimming rules shall also apply. USA Swimming safety guidelines and warm-up procedures will be in effect for the entire meet. No-
Recall Starting Procedures: Starting procedures for this meet will be conducted in accordance with USA
Swimming Rules, Section 102.14.4H. The referee of the meet shall be the final authority for the conduct of the competition. IES scratch rules will be in effect.
Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a membercoach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement
PHOTOGRAPHY BEHIND THE STARTING BLOCKS IS ALSO PROHIBITED
DECK AREA:
Only swimmers, coaches, officials and meet workers are permitted in the deck area. Spectators will not be allowed in the deck area without proof of current USA Swimming membership. The deck area is considered to be a 3 foot area from the edge of the pool and the area behind the start platforms up to the timer chairs.
ALL 25 YARD EVENTS :
There will be a clerk of course provided for all 25 yard events.
POOL COURSE:
Harvey pool is an indoor eight lane, 25 yard pool with a 3x20yd warm down pool which will be open during the meet. The facility has a DAKTONICS automatic timing scoreboard, horn start and nonturbulent lane dividers..

There is a parking restriction next to the railroad tracks adjacent to the pool facility on the Whitman
Campus. Signs will be posted in these areas. Parking is limited in the immediate vicinity of the pool but there are plenty of lots within a short walking distance of the facility.
ACCESSIBILITY: The upper deck is accessible to wheelchairs by using the elevator in the front entrance.
The basement is off limits to all personnel.
