A Special Hug Movie for the launching of the Rio 2016 Games brand celebrates the warm welcoming spirit of the Carioca The Rio 2016 Olympic Games brand movie was produced by Conspiração Filmes and directed by movie-maker Andrucha Waddington. Artistic direction of Scott Givens, founder of the company Five Currents, and responsible for the idea of the Rio 2007 Pan-American Games ceremony. In the movie, it is already 2016 and sport embraces the city involving everyone on the first day of competitions. The characters who perform the sports pictured in the film are not actors, but athletes. Professional in their categories, they tell the story of the brand while competing around the city. The brand depicts both the spirit and the challenge the athletes face, and also reflects the beauty of the country, the passion of the people, the Olympic values and the love for sport. The natural beauty that makes Rio a wonderful city was the location: Aterro do Flamengo, Lagoa, Mahatma Gandhi Square, Fiscal Island, Marina da Glória, Botafogo beach, the Guanabara Bay. Stunning sceneries that, in the plot, receive sports such as canoeing, equestrian, swimming, athletics, golf, cycling, gymnastics and beach volleyball. The movie was conceived and produced as if it was a theatrical release, with the same care and professionalism. The final revealing of the brand, positioned in the middle of the Guanabara Bay, highlights the beginning of the road to 2016. In four days of shooting, around 70 people worked on various positions and were tireless in search of the best work possible; best angle, best costume, best light. Afterwards, in the post-production of the movie, three more weeks followed up to the final result. High quality equipments were used. Three cameras were filming at the same time, being one of them a last generation Alexa, full HD. And the soundtrack had to have a strong connection to the city. It was moviemaker Andrucha Waddington along with artistic director Scott Givens that chose “Aquele Abraço” (A Special Hug), by songwriter and singer Gilberto Gil. At the YB production company, from São Paulo, the lyric gained a special arrangement and was recorded in the voice of singer Nina Becker.
