Art Instructor- Job Description
At Clay Owen Studios we invite artists to teach our students new skills. The studio will be in charge of
managing the studio when instructors are not in as well as ordering all supplies necessary for the class.
Studio staff will answer all calls and emails as well as manage all student booking. The following job
duties apply to instructors:
1. Instructors are expected to remain patient and to clearly communicate to students the concepts
of the art form they are teaching.
2. Students are expected to clean their studio space and follow all safety measures associated with
the class, instructors are expected to remind students of these safety measures and encourage
students to clean their space.
3. Instructors are expected to arrive and have all materials for the class set up 15 minutes prior to
students arrival.
4. When students arrive instructors must have them sign their waiver form before starting any
class activities.
The following pay will be given to instructors
1. Instructors will be paid an hourly wage of $10 an hour as well as 20% per student. The studio
will try to fill the instructors schedules however it is not gaureenteed that classes will be full. If
students book a class and do not attend instructors will still receive pay for that student.
2. Instructors can buy extra supplies needed with studio approval. A receipt must be presented for
reimbursement and approval must be given prior to purchase.
3. Instructors will be paid on the 1st and the 15th of the month.
4. Instructors are hired as contract laborers and are expected to file their earnings with the IRS
separate from the studio.

Class calendars are organized at the beginning of the month. Instructors and staff will have a monthly
meeting on the 25th of each month to constructor the next month’s calendar. Instructors are responsible
for showing up for the classes they have scheduled. If no one can fill in for you and we have to
reschedule the class last minute there will be a fine of $10 per student we have to reschedule. If the
reschedule date in two weeks prior to the class than we will not fine the instructor.
Necessary paperwork: Instructors are expected to fill out the studios contract labor form as well as a
non compete clause upon being hired.
