Supporting Enquiry Question –
“Are Europe‘s transport networks (airline routes, rail networks, motorways) ready to
support Europe for the next 20 years?‘‘
Summary and relevance / links to Umbrella Question - The conference will
explore the changes of transport network in Europe during the ages and its impact on the
environment, people and even history of European countries. What means of transport
and/or transport network should be created in order not to pollute the environment,
develop eco tourism, make trips faster and safer and cover the needs of future
generations?
Curriculm areas etc involved – History, Geography, Physics Social studies, English
Language , Computers.
Objectives, strategy, and concrete outcome(s) of conference - By the end of the
conference delegates will understand the need for Europe to expand transport networks
wisely with the least negative impact on the environment, historical places and create
environmentally friendly means of transport.
Delegates will consider imaginative ways to create an alternative transport network for
their countries and Europe for future generations.
Preparatory work – hosts – Undertake the preparation and organization for the
stay of the visitors. Create a map of transport networks in partner countries.
Preparatory work - delegates – Create a presentation on the transport network in each
country assesing positive and negative aspects.
Conference timeframe – 12 to 16th March 2013
Draft Itinerary for Conference
Arrival day - Tuesday 12th March 2013
A first workgroup for the students to introduce themselves and then present the project
(aims, stages, outcome). Power points presentations, films. (Homework). A party with
presenting NATIONAL dishes, souvenirs .
Day Two - Wed 13th March
Team work on the given topics (for instance present strong arguments that railway
network/ airline network/ motorways are the best choice to travel through Europe and they
should be expanded). Vilnius sightseeing.
Day Three – Thurs 14th March
Presentations of group work. Visit to Trakai
Day Four – Fri 15th March
Creating a new map of transport network around Europe, making a guest book ( may be
on-line) Sightseeing and shopping. Free time activities
Day Five - Sat 16th March
Departure of delegates
Accomodation – staff to be hosted in local hotels/ hostels. Students to be hosted by
students families or hotel or hostel
Internal transport - from arrival at airport to departure at airport, by hosting families to
take their studento or coach or mini buses.. Local buses or coaches, train for different
visits.
Meal arrangements - for all delegates in hostels/hotels, school canteen and / or families
Post-conference activities - hosts –
Make a film or create a guest book about the conference, the solutions on the transport
network made and send to partners. Alternative transport networks map.
Post-conference activities - delegates – Write the thoughts, opinions, ideas,
expectations in the guest book.
The European Added Value that this conference will include the cooperation between
European students to find out the most suitable ways to use European transport network
and develop it without too much negative impact on the environment, people,and even
historical places.
The impact we expect the conference activities will have on participating persons
include an enhanced European awareness of the necessity to preserve nature, create
environmentally friendly means of transport and wisely develop new transport networks.
Students will be able to share ideas, compare transport networks in different countries,
and work in international teams.
Co-operation and communication methods before, during and after conference
will be enabled through exchanges of documents through e-mails or an internet
platform; the use of videoconference and multilingual work sessions during the
conference.

The success of this conference - will be evaluated through a detailed survey
The results of this conference enquiry will be published to local and European
audiences through: Exhibitons at schools.

Publication in the press (newspapers, radio, even TV) who will be invited for the
presentations done by the students

Guest book on line.
The findings and results of this conference will contribute to the final partnership
