Sotai is a brilliant technique of body alignment using the body’s own power to adjust itself. It is a powerful
and most ingenious and safe method. It was developed by Dr. Keiso Hashimoto as a result of his lifelong
research and experimentation. Sotai was then brought to the education system by Kikuko Miyazaki. Donna
Boucher learned the Sotai techniques and routines directly from Kikuko Miyazaki. The purpose of the therapy
is to correct the structural aspect of the body, to remove any structural interference in the workings of the
nervous system as well as interference with blood and lymph circulation. Structural misalignment can lead to
malfunctioning of organs and parts of the body, and can cause pain. In terms of oriental medicine, this therapy
allows for the free flow of ki (chi) by relaxing tight holding muscles.
The tight holding muscles and tendons are in fact the original cause of misalignment. The uniqueness of Sotai
is in the use of movement in assessing distortion and imbalance, which the body mobilizes to execute any
given movement. It is never about an isolated muscle. Sotai is not interested in analyzing and identifying the
muscles, Sotai simply treats it as a group that allows the body to make a specific movement and the treatment
addresses this group of muscles.
Upon completion of the course, practitioners will be given a certificate of completion.
