TEACHING ENGLISH TO SPEAKERS OF OTHER
LANGUAGES (TESOL) CERTIFICATE
150 HOUR ONLINE TRAINING PROGRAM
Mission Statement
Midwest Education Group (MEG) TESOL Certification Course
will provide you with a strong theoretical foundation to guide
your teaching practice and to educate you to master the most
effective English language teaching techniques, strategies, and
approaches.
Module 1: Introduction to (Applied) Linguistics
Description: Focuses on the scientific study and analysis of language,
providing essential understanding of: phonology, morphology, syntax,
semantics, applied linguistics, and sociolinguistics, and the practical
applications of all these concepts to the teaching context.
Module 2: Introduction to Teaching English as a Second Language
Description: Presents a general overview of the different ESL learning
theories, and discusses the various approaches and methods to ESL
teaching. Discusses the role of the students and teachers in these methods or
approaches and their suitability for the learning context.
Module 3: Introduction to Teaching ESL/EFL Skills and Elements
Description: Explores the best practices in teaching the language skills
(Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) and elements (Vocabulary,
Grammar, Spelling, Punctuation, etc.), using communicative, interactive,
and authentic teaching materials, techniques and strategies.
Module 4: Learning Assessment and Feedback —30 hours
Description: Describes a variety of assessment types and instruments that
can be used to measure and evaluate students’ learning, and how to provide
them with feedback that promote their subsequent learning. Discusses the
different purposes and benefits of learning assessment and the stakeholders
for whom assessment is important.
Objectives
Our ultimate goal in providing the TESOL Certification Course
is not only to help you realize your dreams (to become a
language teacher, to work in a foreign country, to learn a new
culture or a language, or to help others pursue their academic
goals), but also to educate you about the value, role, and
capability of the TESOL profession in the today world.
Module 5: Lesson Planning and Classroom Management
Description: Explores the features of a successful ESL lesson, effective ESL
lesson plan, and a competent ESL teacher. Presents different ways of
planning a lesson. Discusses strategies of classroom management and
organization of the learning environment.
Module 6: Introduction to Computer Assisted Language Learning
Description: Introduces Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and
the different resources and activities that can be used to assist the teaching
and learning of ESL. Discusses criteria for assessing and evaluating the
suitability of ESL software and websites.

Module 7: Practicum (optional)
Description: Equips teachers with practical teaching experience that will
expose them to the real world of ESL teaching! Trains teachers on how to
put theory (learned in modules 1-6) into practice, and get a flavor of the
ESL teaching-learning process. Provides confidence in starting (or
continuing) the career of Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL).
Module 8: Exit Portfolio
Description: Helps teachers reflect analytically and think critically about,
their TESOL experience during this course, by summarizing their
experience, highlighting the new knowledge and skills they learned,
providing feedback to course instructors, encouraging them to build their
own TESOL portfolio, by presenting them with samples of teaching
philosophies, resumes, job cover letters and interview
questions, and so forth.

Refund Policies
1. PROCESS FOR CANCELLATION OF A
COURSE
If Student cancels for any reason, Student must notify
MEG_ TESOL in writing. The cancellation will be
effective upon receipt of the writing by MEG_ TESOL
at its offices in Chicago, Illinois. MEG_ TESOL incurs
substantial administrative and planning costs for this
Course. Therefore, regrettably, if a Student cancels his
or her participation in MEG_ TESOL course, funds
paid by Student to MEG_ TESOL can be refunded only
as set forth per the refund schedule for their course as
outlined in the agreement above.

100% tuition will be refunded if the student cancels the
course 24 hours before the course starts;
90% tuition will be refunded if the student cancels the
course after completing 10% of the training;
80% tuition will be refunded if the student cancels the
course after completing 20% of the training
70% tuition will be refunded if the student cancels the
course after completing 30% of the training
60% tuition will be refunded if the student cancels the
course after completing 40% of the training
50% tuition will be refunded if the student cancels the
course after completing 50% of the training

60% tuition will be refunded if the student cancels the
course after completing 40% of the training
30% tuition will be refunded if the student cancels the
course after completing 70% of the training
20% tuition will be refunded if the student cancels the
course after completing 80% of the training
10% tuition will be refunded if the student cancels the
course after completing 90% of the training
No refund is issued if the student cancels the courses
after completing more than 90% of the training.
