International Care and Education PowerPoint Assignment
Assignment point total = 100
Make up a pretend family of 2 full time working parents with 2 children, ages 6
months and 6 years. They are planning to move from the U.S. due to job
relocation. You will select a country other than the United States and research
the care and education systems of that country. As your final product, you will
prepare a PowerPoint which will better prepare the family. You will also
prepare a reference list in APA format, which must contain a minimum of 5
academic sources (Wikipedia and similar websites are NOT acceptable!).
REQUIRED sources are the national departments for care, and education, for the
country. Be sure that you include (and properly cite) information from all
sources listed in your references in your brochure. If you use any pictures to in
your brochure, they must also be properly cited.
You must include the following information in your presentation:
1. A brief description of the country, including location, population, type of
governance, and the major driving force of the economy
2. A historical perspective on care and education in the country
3. The current management structure, for early care (national)
4. The current organizational structure for education (not including higher
education)
5. Structure of school year/school day
6. Language of instruction
7. Eligibility requirements for attendance (if any)
8. Costs (if any)
9. Educational requirements for teachers
For ECED students, keep in mind that even in the U.S. there are two systems of care and education for the age
groups mentioned in the scenario. In other countries, there may also be two systems, or no formalized systems
for both. You will need to investigate non-formal arrangements possible in the culture also, in order to address
care and education for both age groups in the family.
