The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) funds a number of public and private hospitals to provide evidenced based trauma recovery day programmes for posttraumatic stress disorder (TRP). Applications will be evaluated against the 2015 National Accreditation Standards Trauma Recovery Programmes – PTSD (TRP standards) which is supported by a TRP standards workbook. These standards and workbook are located at www.at-ease.gov.au/professional. DVA evaluates the clinical effectiveness of the TRP’s annually, through the collection of outcome data from veterans attending the programme. This data is collected at specific time points during and after the programme. Accreditation Once DVA has agreed to purchase a TRP your hospital will have twelve months to be accredited. Evidence of accreditation should be provided to DVA once obtained. Where a hospital does not proceed with accreditation within the timeline, DVA may not be in a position to continue to fund the programme. Completing the application In providing a response to each of the standards, the applicant should familiarise themselves with the standards workbook. The workbook will assist you in providing sufficient evidence that will enable DVA to evaluate your application. You are required to provide a brief summary against each standard and provide documentation that demonstrates that you have systems and processes in place to address the criteria and actions. Some examples of documentation as follows: Clinical workforce qualifications, skills and expertise Risk management strategy/policy Intake and assessment processes and procedures Clinician and participant programme manuals Programme timetables If you require further information or support in completing the application please contact your local DVA contract manager.
