Replacement registration animal tags Replacement animal ID markers (tags) can be obtained from any Customer Service Centre at a cost of $6.50 per tag. Registration tags must be worn on animals when outside their owner’s premises, pursuant to the Domestic Animals Act 1994. Documents To be entitled to a reduced registration fee you must provide proof of sterilisation, microchip implant, membership of approved association, obedience papers, breeding licence, statutory declaration or tax return for proof of working dog status. Excess animal permits Permits must be obtained to keep more than two dogs and / or two cats per residential household on land up to 4000 square metres and more than four dogs / four cats on land greater than 4000 square metres. State Government Levy Registration fees include the State Government Levy of $3.50 per dog and $2 per cat, which is used primarily to fund responsible pet ownership education programs. Penalties Owners of unregistered animals may receive on-thespot infringements for each animal. Random spot checks will occur after 10 April. Use of unregistered tags It is an offence under the Domestic Animals Act 1994 for an owner of an unregistered animal to wear a Council identification tag— infringements can apply.
