Global Warming Argument -Peer Review/Teacher Rubric Instruction: To share your work with others, we will be using a Round-Robin format. This means that one member of the group will stay at the group station to share groups’ ideas with others while the rest of the group members will go to other groups, one at a time. You will listen and critique the explanations developed by your classmates. Remember, as you critique the work of others, you have to decide if their conclusions are valid based on quality of the explanation and how well they are able to support their ideas. In other words, you need to determine if their argument is convincing or not convincing. To do this, ask yourself the following questions: Criteria 1. Is their explanation adequate (it explains everything it needs to) and free from contradictions)? 2. Did they use genuine evidence (they organized their data in a way that shows a trend over time, a relationship between variables, or a difference between groups) and did they use enough evidence to support their ideas (they used more than one piece of evidence and all their ideas are supported by evidence)? 3. Is their evidence of high quality? In other words, is their evidence valid (they used appropriate methods to gather the data) and reliable (they attempted to reduce error in their measurements or observations)? 4. Is there any counterevidence that does not support their explanation? 5. How well does their explanation fit with other theories and laws that are used in science to explain or describe how the world works? 6. Is their reasoning appropriate (rational and sound)? 7. Is their rationale sufficient (they explain why the evidence was used and why it supports the explanation)? © Copyright2014-all rights reserved www.cpalms.org Convincing Not Convincing Team A Criteria 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Convincing Not Convincing Comments Team B Criteria 1 2 Convincing Not Convincing 3 4 5 6 7 Team C Criteria 1 2 Convincing Not Convincing 3 4 5 6 7 © Copyright2014-all rights reserved www.cpalms.org Team D Criteria 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Convincing Not Convincing Comments Team E Criteria 1 2 Convincing Not Convincing 3 4 5 6 7 Team F Criteria 1 2 Convincing Not Convincing 3 4 5 6 7 Overall Opinion on the activity:____________________________________________________ © Copyright2014-all rights reserved www.cpalms.org © Copyright2014-all rights reserved www.cpalms.org
