The Immune-System is recognised as one of the most important systems existing, in the humanbody. It plays numerous amounts of roles, like fighting harmful bacteria, filtering blood and fluid etc. etc. Without it, well people could just die off in a matter of seconds due to disease harmful bacteria, and hundreds of other possibilities. White blood cells are very critical for our body's immune system. They are also known as "leukocytes."The "leuko" part of it, means white, in the ancient Greek language. There are at least, five different and diverse types of WBC's existing , but they are all produced from a multipotent cell in the bone marrow known as a hematopoietic stem cell. Hematopoietic cells are cells that can turn or become into any of the 5 white blood cells or any other type of blood-cell existing in our body, these come from the bone-marrow. There life span is about 3-4 earth days in the human-body. Normally there are 7000 WBC's in a micro litre of blood. So if there are more white-blood cells in the micro-litre of blood, that means you're is ill or sick, which in turn, produces more WBC's. B cells make antibodies that bind to pathogen cells to enable their destruction. T cells are in categories. T memory cells, help remember the virus or infection, so it knows how to combat it, if it returns to your body. Helper T Cells help B cells, "maturise" so they can do their own work. The spleen is a well needed organ in the immune-system. It is an organ, usually found in all vertebrate humans and animals. Vertebrates are living things (leaving out flora) that have a backbone or spine. It primarily also acts as a blood filter, deciding which blood should stay, and which should go away. In healthy and rather normal human adults, the spleen should measure the size of 11 cm. It also acts as a safe-house, sheltering and protecting injured white-blood cells, that have fought in combat with germs or viruses. The skin is a very crucial part of the human-body's immune-system. It keeps out millions, and possibly billions of germs out of the inner-parts of your body. But if you get an injury on the skin, then it's like you sliced open a fruit or veggie. Which means that all the germs can go and leak in to our body. That is why we put on bandaids to prevent infections when this happens, since there are lots of germs floating in the air. Skin is quite soft, and on some parts of our body sensitive, which what gives us the symptom of being ticklish. The lymphatic system has multiple functions: It is responsible for the removal of any kind of insignificant fluid coming from the bodies tissues, which can cause infections if this role isn't played. It absorbs and transports fatty acids and other kinds of fats from the digestive system It transports white blood cells to and from the lymph nodes into the bone-marrow. Lymph Nodes act as a filter, like you would have at the sink, filtering the unimportant stuff. This extra unimportant fluid comes out when you go to empty your bladder.(please be appropriate) Roughly 17 litres of the filtered plasma actually get reabsorbed directly into the blood vessels, while the remaining 3 litres are left behind in the insignificant fluid which then gets filtered by the lymph nodes. The thymus is a very special organ of the immune system. The thymus "educates" Tlymphocytes (T cells), which are heavy dealing damage cells that are critically needed for the immune systems defence. One of the parts of the immune-system, is part of your bone. It's called Bone-Marrow. Bone-marrow is a very flexible, elasticy tissue found in the inside of your bones. Bone-Marrow is key in the humanbody's immune-system since it, produces the majority of leukocytes or white-blood cells in our body. White-blood cells absolutely demolishes all germs and all sorts of harmful stuff, that enters the human-body. In a way it is bad if your body does this, since the immune-system can sometimes mistake un-harmful stuff for harmful stuff, which can lead to allergies. There are 2 types of bone marrow, the red bone marrow helps create more white blood cells from progenitor or root cells, which are cells that are roots to becoming either, platelets, red blood cells etc. The other part of the bone marrow, works with the thymus to help with sorting on were the white-blood cells go. Lots of diseases can effect bone marrow such as; asaplastic anemia, malignancies such as multiple myeloma, or infections such as tuberculosis. These can make the bone-marrow produce the wrong cells, that can be harmful for the body. Also, large amounts of radiation can kill and destroy a lot of the production of different types of cells, that the bone-marrow produces. Body linings, are a skin that is located in a couple of parts in your body, such as the RespiratorySystem, the Digestive-System etc. You can find it in the throat, lungs, stomach and intestines. Basically, its main function is to keep out millions of bacteria that are trying to get into the inner part of your body. Although it may seem that it can't do this job, since its less tougher and softer than normal outer skin amazingly it still does its job. This layer of skin, is also covered in numerous anti-bodies called secretory Iga, which helps kill millions of germs, meaning that it is one of the strongest leukocytes in the human-body. Iga is also found in the saliva and in the enzymes of our tears. Blood vessels make up the immune system by acting like transport pipes, to transport any type of blood-cell needed throughout the body in this case, white-blood cells are taken to were there needed. An interesting fact about blood-vessels, is that they play a role in pretty much any medical condition possible. It is also part of the circulatory-system, so it takes in all the oxygen we breath in, and sends back the carbon-dioxide we breath in. The appendix is not quite 100% recognised as an organ working in a part of the immune-system. But some scientists have theorised that it protects bacteria that may be good or beneficial for the immune-system. The word or term "vermiform" comes from Latin and means worm shaped. Common diseases of the appendix are; appendicitis, and carcinoid tumals. The Immune-system project was actually quite fun, especially when we go to work with one of our favourite video games, Minecraft. Researching, creating the pixel-arts was astoundingly also very fun. We hope that we get to do something similar to do this again! But what we could of done different was, to majorly improve on our time-line and how we want to schedule things in a more organised and specific way. But asides from that we really enjoyed it!
