December 8, 2014 Dear Parent of a 9th grader, Have you ever wondered how you could get your teen to know more about what the Bible teaches? Do you have a desire for him/her to have a biblical worldview? The Student Ministries at Christ Community are offering a tool that will help you bring your student up to speed in vital areas of Christian truth and practice. The Bible Instruction Class (BIC) is such a great tool! This is a course offered every year mainly to 9th graders, but others are welcome also, even parents! Registered students meet nearly every Sunday from January until the end of May. Each student receives an ESV Student Study Bible, and a BIC Manual that covers an overview of the Old Testament, New Testament, and Bible Doctrine. A team of qualified teachers will do the teaching. The BIC class begins Sunday, January 11th at 10:35am in the Gather 2. It is very important that parents attend this first meeting with their student. If you want to enroll your student in BIC please return the enclosed form with payment ($40 + optional resources) on Sunday January 11th. Please consider these options when registering: 1. Gold Level Students will be required to attend at least 80% of the class sessions and score 80% or higher on the coursework. Students who complete this level will receive $100 off the Summer trip. 2. Silver Level Students will be required to attend at least 80% of the class sessions and score 70% or higher on the coursework. Students who complete this level will receive $50 off the Summer trip. 3. Bronze Level Students will be required to attend at least 70% of the class sessions and score 65% or higher on the coursework. Students who complete this level will get a sweet high five from me and the pride of finishing well. Please keep in mind that this is a class, NOT a youth activity. Students who successfully complete the course will graduate at the BIC Graduation Reception in June. I would encourage you to think through your student’s schedule this semester with them and gauge which level is realistic and achievable for them. A student may change levels during the semester, but will be asked to drop the class if it becomes apparent that they will not be able to graduate at the bronze level.
