PRISCM congregations cooperate as core teams action clusters, a metropolitan organization, and in affiliation with other congregation-centered community organizations within the Gamaliel Network. PRISCM's goal is to strengthen member congregations and institutions and to build powerful coalitions that address local community issues and bring about social and systemic change. General Responsibilities The Community Organizer is responsible for recruiting and integrating new member congregations into PRISCM and engaging member congregations by designing and implementing campaigns and actions with local leaders. The Community Organizer is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the organization. Primary Responsibilities • • • • • • • • • Organizing congregations and developing leaders to build the power of PRISCM. Recruiting new congregations and institutions and maintaining strong relationships with current members. Conducting leadership training at the local and national levels. Identifying and recruiting individuals for local and national leadership training. Organizing issue campaigns, actions, Clergy Caucus and Board meetings. Conducting power analyses with PRISCM members. Raising significant money for the organization. Providing Weekly Reports, travel requests, other administrative matters and reports as requested in a timely and accurate manner Interacting and working with PRISCM members in a professional, accountable and appropriate manner Page 2 PARTNERSHIP FOR RENEWAL IN SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL MARYLAND (PRISCM) COMMUNITY ORGANIZER POSITION DESCRIPTION Qualifications • • • • • • • • • • • • • Bachelor's Degree (4 yrs. college) or at least three years of professional community organizing experience. Community organizing experience with grassroots groups and low-income people. Ability to work with groups of people from diverse ethnic, economic and religious backgrounds. Experience working with coalitions and other organizations on successful issue campaigns. Strong commitment to social justice and social change. Fundraising experience. Good communication, writing and administrative skills. Experience developing leaders and conducting leadership training. Self-motivated and accountable. Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends. Ability to travel in the region with some national travel required. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus.
