Job Title: Web Content Manager, Nasher Museum of Art Job Code: 2793 Job Level: 12 Requisition Number (www.hr.duke.edu): 400553822 OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY: The Web Content Manager manages and strengthens the Nasher Museum’s website, handling day-to-day oversight, maintaining site standards and guiding new development as communications needs change. The Web Content Manager also supports technical aspects of the museum’s ongoing social media strategy. The position will report to the manager of marketing and communications and be a key member of the museum’s external relations team. This position will also work closely with the online community coordinator, who manages the museum’s online community through the website, blog and social media pages. This is a part time, 20 hour per week position. The position is term limited; currently funded for 2.5 years with additional funding being sought. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Serve as editor-in-chief of the museum’s website by assuming overarching responsibility for the site’s accuracy, timeliness, editorial quality and effectiveness as a communications vehicle for the Nasher Museum. Support the museum’s web overhaul project in early 2012. This involves taking part in internal meetings of the website overhaul committee to determine the scope of work, assist in the hire of a web design team and, eventually, gather content and images for the new site. Operate the new website’s content management system (CMS). Manage website content from idea generation to final posting. This includes writing and editing copy, and ensuring quality control of all elements and pages. Proactively recommend and implement appropriate site-wide improvements. Provide multimedia and design services, including, but not limited to, preparing audio, video and Flash animations and optimizing images for the web. Design the “look and feel” of new web pages. Track user feedback, site traffic and other data to determine site’s effectiveness in meeting institutional marketing and communications objectives. Respond to internal and external audience questions, concerns and issues. Report on site effectiveness. Keep current with emerging web technologies through relevant blogs, listservs and events. MINIMUM HIRING SPECIFICATIONS Job Code 2793, Job Level 12, Job Family JF 08 EDUCATION/TRAINING Position requires a Bachelor's degree. EXPERIENCE Minimum of three years of related experience, including website management. Experience in video editing preferred. Tasks require a strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines. The successful candidate will have strong editorial and writing skills and an understanding of different audiences and objectives for communicating on the website, blog and social media. Candidate should have excellent computer skills, including familiarity with basic HTML formatting and content management systems. Candidate should be proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
