Graduation Check Sheet for THESIS
To Do:
1. Submit or Revise (as necessary) your Graduate Studies Plan (GSP)
2. Verify that your Name, Address and Contact Information are Current on UAOnline and that You
are Receiving Your Student Email
3. Review and Adhere to the UAA Graduate School Process for Thesis Submission
4. Apply for Graduation
5. Review your ESM Department Audit with ESM Administrative Support
6. Receive your University Degree Audit from UAA Degree Services
7. Successfully Complete your Thesis, Presentation, and Final Document Submittal
8. RSVP & attend Masters Hooding and Graduation Ceremonies (Encouraged! But OPTIONAL)
9. Pick Up Diploma (Special arrangements must be made with Degree Services for mailing)

a. Select your advisor
This should be a full time UAA Instructor, preferably in the ESM (or PM)
department.
b. Select your committee
Your selection must be at least 2 adjunct or full time instructors at UAA or other
individuals authorized by the Graduates School. Consult ESM Administrative
Support for more information.
c. Please note, that the instructor of ESM 684/699 me be on your committee as either
your advisor or one of your committee members.
d. Gain written approval to serve on your committee
Please email these approvals with your completed GSP form
e. Petition for any course substitutions or for courses taken over 7 years ago

f. Verify classes listed to complete your program
Please use your student record at UAOnline

 This will be a @uaa.alaska.edu or @alaska.edu email address
 ALL of your official correspondence will be routed through this email, and this
email alone.

3. Review and Adhere to the UAA Graduate School Process for Thesis Submission

a. Deadlines for Thesis Submission
 Fall Graduation: December 10
 Spring Graduation: April 10
 Summer Graduation: July 10
o Thesis format checks are strongly encouraged prior to Thesis
Submission Deadlines. Please see the Graduate School website for more
information to receive an official format check.
b. Formatting for Thesis Submission
The formatting for a Graduate Thesis is extremely particular and critical. Therefore,
there are a number of documents, handbooks, workshops, and formatting assistances
available to you. Please see the website for more information.
4. Apply for Graduation

a. Deadlines and Fees:
 Cost ($25.00*)
 Late Applications charge an extra fee ($50.00*)
 Please consult the UAA Degree Services Website for current semester
deadlines.
b. If you have previously applied to graduate, you may not have to apply again.
Please contact the ESPM Administrative team for more information.
c. The online for Application for Graduation is available at the Degree Services Website
above.
 Select the “Apply for Graduation” link
d. Pay the Graduation Application Fee
5. Check and Comply with your ESM Graduation Audit from ESPM Administrative Team

a. Individualized and in writing, please call the ESPM office with any questions
b. These audits will be sent to your student email ( @uaa.alaska.edu or @alaska.edu )
accounts
6. Receive Your University Degree Audit Through Your Student Email from Degree Services
a. This should align with your ESM Audit
b. With the addition item of a Graduate Requirement Report (GRR).
Please don’t be concerned about this. It is a departmental responsibility, not
student generated.
7. Successfully Complete your Thesis, Presentation, and Final Document Submittal
a. It is the student’s responsibility to organize their committee, advisor and communicate
with the administrative staff to organize their final presentation date, time, and
location.
b. Please refer to the syllabus for your course regarding submission deadlines of
committee review drafts of your document and final paper submission.
8. RSVP & Attend Ceremonies (OPTIONAL)

d. Ordering – You must order your Cap, Gown and Hood by the deadline to participate.

9. Pick Up Your Diploma
a. You will receive an email from the University. You will have the following options:
