Approval of Minutes of October 14, 2013—The minutes of October 14, 2013 were approved as written. TLC Work for Today A. PA/PR Review: The Quadrennial Capstone Reports will be reviewed as follows: December 9: Distance Education; Library, including LIS and LT; Kinesiology: Health & Physical Education. February 13: Engineering, Center for Teacher Education; Study Skills February 27: History; Psychology; SCE Parent Education, Adult basic Education March 13: Dance, TV/Video; Pharmacy Tech; Ethnic Studies March 27: Astronomy; EMT; Physics Please review each report prior to the meeting. They may be found on the Program Review webpage at http://teams.rsccd.edu. For reports which will be reviewed spring 2014, please invite the appropriate colleagues from your respective divisions to come to the TLC meeting to present the report and answer questions. Please note: The capstone reports will follow a triennial cycle commencing 2015-2016 academic year to be in alignment with the SAC accreditation cycle. All reports are due in October. (SAC Accreditation Cycle: Self Evaluation Report and Comprehensive Site 1 Visit: October 2014 / Midterm Report 2017 to respond to ACCJC recommendations; Self Evaluation Report and Comprehensive Site Visit 2020 / Midterm Report 2023. Please note that other reports and follow-up visits may also be required.) B. SharePoint Update—Bonnie demonstrated the internal Program Review site of SharePoint. There are pages for Academic Affairs, Student Services and Administrative Services, in which each department has a page with “libraries” so program review documents may be uploaded by the chairs. There is also a program review resources page. On the department pages, there will be a link to the public website of the departments as well. Please review the site at teams.rsccd.edu / log in with your email login/ go to SAC / go to Program Review. Contact Bonnie if you have questions, concerns or suggestions. We want this to be intuitive and easy to use. (Please see Appendix A.) C. Data Review: 1. Student Achievement Outcomes—This item is deferred. 2. Self Efficacy Survey Correlation—This item will be discussed at the February 13, 2014 meeting. Please correlate the grades from the fall 2013 semester to the survey conducted at the beginning of the semester. D. Accreditation Update—The Standards co-chairs met on November 8th and submitted drafts of the Self Evaluation Report. An Accreditation Institutional Effectiveness survey was distributed via Survey Monkey to the entire college community. (Today is the last day to complete the survey.) The results will be distributed and discussed at the next co-chairs meeting on December 6, 2013. The second draft, with all sub-standards addressed, is due December 4, 2013 and will also be discussed at the December 4th meeting. III. Professional Development Update—1. Melanie reported that there have been workshops for both instructors and students at the learning Center (e.g., How to Write DLA—for instructors; How to Organize a Notebook—for students). In addition a BSI proposal has been submitted to support presentations which will be videotaped at the Learning Center. 2. Mary reported that President Martinez’s Professional Development Taskforce has met. The President of the Academic Senate will request a Faculty Development Coordinator position as a result. 3. Cherylee reported that she has been working with Kathy at the Learning Center to establish like services for Distance Education students. IV. Book of the Year: Tortilla Curtain—Yolanda reported that the website with instructor resources will be available by flex week. She has also purchased four Spanish language films which have subtitles. (Closed captioning will be investigated for these.) Other ideas include having a “Wall of Dreams” somewhere on the campus and a panel in the spring semester. V. Other: Calendar for Spring 2014—Please note that the TLC will meet the second and fourth Thursday of the month spring 2014 as follows: February 13, 27; March 13, 27; April 24; May 8, 22, 29 (if needed).
