Apply validity checks for your forms. a) Create tables and relationship among tables b) Create necessary forms for data entry Evidence format: Screen shots of showing relationship among tables and screen shots of all the forms Task 2 Assessment criteria for pass: 2.3 Apply a range of database tools and techniques to enhance the user interface Apply the tools and techniques (at least 3) you have learnt in table and form design to enhance user interface. Evidence format: Screen shots showing creation of basic command buttons in database table and forms. Page 6 of 11 Merit 1 Merit 1 Identify and apply strategies to find appropriate solutions Merit 1 will be awarded, if the learner applies more suitable data validation methods into table design and form design relating to task 2. Screen shot of option button; drop down lists, command button macros should be included. Evidence format: Provide screen shots and explanation in your report to document the methods being applied. Task 3 Assessment criteria for pass: 3.2 Implement a query language into the relational database system Create necessary queries using (QBE) tools. a) Produce a query to list all the customers in the ACR video rental shop. b) Produce a query to list all the movies in the ACR video rental shop. Show the evidence of how query language has been implemented in the Rental system for ABC video rental company. Evidence format: Screen shots of query language has been implemented and results of the query. Screen shot of SQL view of the query should be included as well. Task 4 Assessment criteria for pass: 3.1 Explain the benefits of using manipulation and query tools in a relational database system Explain the benefits of querying the database by using manipulation and query tools (query by example (QBE)) in a relational database system to extract data from multiple tables in ACR video rental shop. Your explanation would be based on task 3. Evidence format: Screen shot of query results and explaining the benefits of the results generated. Completed work should be word processed. Page 7 of 11 Task 5 Assessment criteria for pass: 3.3 Critically evaluate how meaningful data has been extracted through the use of query tools You have implemented queries in task 3. Using query tools and using the same queries you need to show the evidence that how critically you can evaluate the query to get meaningful data (results). Evidence format: Screen shot of query results and explaining the benefits of the results generated. Completed work should be word processed. Task 6 Assessment criteria for pass: 4.1 Critically review and test a relational database system Critically review and test (black box testing, clear/white box testing) a relational database system. Show the data from the table, and show the data after manipulating in query. Evidence format: Screen shots of incoming data from the table and screen shot of outgoing data from queries. (Black box testing) Screen shots of enforcing referential Integrity constraint in creating relationship among tables. (White box testing) Task 7 Assessment criteria for pass: 4.2 Create documentation to support the implementation and testing of a relational database system As part of control mechanisms and security hide the database objects including tables, forms, queries and reports. Create documentation to support the implementation and testing (include test plan) of an ARC rental database system. Evidence format: Create documentation with screen shot of steps involved in implementation and testing. Task 8 Assessment criteria for pass: 4.3 Create user documentation for a developed relational database system Create technical user documentation (user guide) of your Rental system of ARC video rental shop. Page 8 of 11 Evidence format: Completed work should be in the form of a report and word-processed. Include necessary screen shots. Task 9 Assessment criteria for pass: 4.4 Explain how verification and validation has been addressed Explain how verification and validation technique helps you to enter and store the right data in to the database. Refer to data integrity and constraints that have been used. Evidence format: Completed work should be in the form of a report and word-processed. Screen shots of each table in the design mode should be shown. Task 10 Assessment criteria for pass: 4.5 Explain how control mechanisms have been used Explain how you protect your Rental system from unauthorized access to the database. Evidence format: Screen shots of steps involved in password creation. Distinction 1 9 Distinction 1 Use critical reflection to evaluate own work and justify valid conclusions Distinction 1 will be awarded, if the learner evaluates the database by creating a Main Menu / Switch board to display all the necessary forms and reports of the ACR rental database system Evidence format: Switch board is to be created with MS Access database in CD. Page 9 of 11 Distinction 2 Distinction 2 Take responsibility for managing and organizing 9 activities Distinction 2 will be awarded, if the learner documents a list of activities involving creation of a report using parameter query a) Display only a specific category in the movie table (for example only the Blue Ray disc form the category of movies). b) Produce a query to list Customer Number and Name who borrowed action movie in the month of March. Evidence format: Completed report for a specific category in MS Access database. Distinction 3 Distinction 3 Demonstrate convergent/lateral/creative thinking 9 Distinction 3 will be awarded, if the learner demonstrate how to create Rental receipt with total amount to be paid after a customer borrowed movies using Master-detail forms and create a Master-detail report. You must add more data on your own to the relevant tables to create a good report. Evidence format: Relevant good reports and forms in MS Access database. Report Format Word process the report. 9 Use 12 point Arial or Times New Roman script. Use the APA (6th edition) referencing system. (http://referencing.port.ac.uk/apa/). Table of content and Page numbers should be provided for the report Complete the title page and sign the statement of authenticity. All works must be properly bound. No loose paper will be accepted. Submit a hard copy on white A4 paper and MS Access database in the CD. Label the CD with your name and LCB number. Spiral bind your assignment; placing cover sheets at the front and your assignment content at the back. Appendices & Reference should be provided if necessary. Source of Information Lecturer’s Power point slides, hand outs and class exercises Page 10 of 11 Plagiarism and Collusion You must cite and properly reference all of your source material. If you copy any text from somebody else, you must make it clear where the text comes from. You must also cite any sources from which you obtain numbers, ideas, or other material. If you have any questions about plagiarism then see your lecturer! Collusion occurs when two or more students collaborate to produce a piece of work that is to be submitted as having been created by one person alone. Plagiarism is a serious offence and will not be treated lightly. Fortunately, it is also easy to avoid. If you are careful to give credit to authors whose work you have used you should not run into any problems. Some Examples of Plagiarism and Collusion When student copies content from previously submitted work (another assignment the student submitted previously) is called self-plagiarism. Two students that work together on an assignment and then each submit the same work as their own are in collusion. A student that copies and pastes text and then uses a thesaurus to change words so that the text can successfully pass through a Turnitin check is plagiarising. A student that copies the ideas of someone else without citing the original author is plagiarising. Extensions and Late Submissions A course work extension request form (available at the office) must be filled in when a student is eligible to apply for extra time to complete an assignment. The course extension request form must be accompanied by corroborating evidence such as a medical certificate. Page 11 of 11
